I lost my engagement ring today.

I am sick to my stomach.

Why could this not have been a day that I was imitating a slug, in the house?? No ... out bright and early ... Home Depot ... Bed Bath & Beyond ... movies ... lunch ... back home to do chores ... back out a couple of hours later (that's when I noticed it was gone, as we were getting in the car).

I'm not sure who is more depressed about it, FI or me.  Blech!   I hope you're haivng a better day than I.

Oh Lisa no!  I'm sure you've retraced your steps and inquired everywhere you've been today.  Hopefully it's in the house.

DAMN Lisa, so sorry to hear this! While this exact thing hasn't happened to me, I have been known to have "senior moments" and realize something is missing........ but not this important.

Hopefully you find it soon !!!!

Oh my goodness - I'm so sorry to hear this!! I'm sure you've retraced all your steps and scoured your mind with "when did I see it last?" thoughts.  I do hope it turns up for you both.  Maybe you'll luck out and someone will turn it in, or better...you find it in your car/pocket, etc.

    Good luck...

Oh no! :( I've done something similar, not with my engagement ring but with my class ring that my grandmother paid for. I took it off to wash my hands in the bathroom and then forgot to put it back on. It never turned back up for me, but I sure hope yours turns up for you! :( Did you get it covered on your homeowners/renter's insurance?

Oh no Lisa.... (((hugs))) I'm sorry that this happened.  Areas to check (if you haven't thought about them already).  Coat pockets, the seat of the car (in between the back cushion and the seat), car floor boards under the seats, the fingers of our gloves (if you wore them), in any packages...

I had the diamond fall out of a ring while on a flight one of the attendents found it and we were called back before boarding our connecting flight.  The diamond and my setting were taped together and zipped in a pocket in my purse after that.

I totally know the feeling.... I am so sorry. ((HUGS))  I hope you find it or someone turns it in.

Hey, ladies ... thanks for your support and encouragement.  Amazingly, I slept well last night, despite the crisis.  Perhaps i passed out from sheer exhaustion!  I have looked and looked ... and will look more this evening and tomorrow.  I even went through a full bag of trash in the kitchen (ick!) and, yes, went through the bags from shopping.  Nothing yet.

I have a good sense of when I lost it (well, within a couple of hours) and most of that time I was right here in the house.  SO ... spring cleaning comes early tomorrow.  I need to clean out closets anyway.  Plus, I'll be back looking through the car again -- for the nth time -- first thing in the morning.

I have had that ring for almost 15 months.  I cannot imagine not ever wearing it again.  But, if that is the case, then I will find a way to deal with it.  *sigh*

I'm so sorry to hear about this.  I lost my first engagement ring during my first marriage.  I was out of my mind.  The worst part was, I lost it in a doctor's office and realized it was gone within 5 minutes.  Never did find it.  I have my fingers crossed for a productive spring cleaning!

Sending knottie vibes your way that you will find your ring. Maybe it will show up when you least expect it. I would be a nervous wreck. Have you looked out in the yard and around your car?? Keep us posted.

9:30 p.m. Update:  I still haven't found the ring.  I just don't have a feeling I will recover it.  I'm usually fairly optimistic, but I just don't feel it ...ugh!

    I will keep you posted.

FYI: I was out of town on business yesterday, and in the client's bathroom........she dried her hands and said "oops, I think I lost my ring"........eeeek!
It sounds as though you have a good approach.........did you have it on your homeowner's policy? Pics of it? Receipt? If you absolutely cannot find it, your insurance should replace less the deductible.
