Is colored nail polish tacky?

Anyone doing a colored nail polish on your toes? I have ivory satin shoes and I think it will be pretty boring if I get a french pedi. I have orange in my color scheme, so I wanted to do a shade of orange (nothing neon). I'm really not feeling the french pedi. Honest opinions please.....

I don't think it's tacky but I always paint my toenails a color. French pedi isn't my style, although I think it's very pretty. I look forward to seeing what everyone else says.

I don't think it will look tacky as long as the color doesn't overpower.  I am using orange in my color scheme as well.

Hey, I love the shoes - where did you find them and do they come in other colors?  I'm looking for a blue shoe.  Thanks!

Yea I agree, I'm not a big fan of french manicures so I don't think its tacky. I think it would look nice. I'm definitely doing a color!

It's not tacky...I think it's fine!  I don't ever get french pedicures on my toes either....I will probably end up doing a nude colored polish on my toes.

Thanks ladies for the feedback. My best friend will probly freak when she see's I'm  not going for the french pedi. She's a Plain Jane, so I can expect that I guess.

@bbyckes: Thanks. I got them from www.endless.com. I bought them a while ago, but I don't recall seeing them in other colors. There's a large selection of shoes on the site though. HTH

I feel bad cause I'm a huge fan of French pedi's! lol. My man likes it. But right now I have a solid color {with a lil sparkle}, and I'm starting to like that, too. If it matches your wedding colors, go for it!

In everyday life, I am not a fan of funny toe nail colors. LOL! And I am not sure how I feel about toenails that are long enough for french pedi's ....but I have a weird thing with feet in general, so I may not be very open minded there...

But I'll say for this case, it's a wedding and it will be cute since it matches your wedding colors. And the big white dress will cover it so your toes will only peek out here and there, and that will look great on pictures i think! So go for it!

It's funny you should post this... I'm thinking of using color for my hands and a french pedi for my feet, lol. I don't think what you're planning on doing is tacky. You should be yourself and if that's what you want, I say go ahead!

@MyPasmita..LOL..Girl ur silly. Actually, my toe nails are not long enuff for a french pedi, so I would have to do acrylic or something to make it work (ugh! that already sounds like more work than I want to do).

@panda16: Color on the hands soudns cute! I'm ok with the french pedi on the hands I guess. What color are you going to get? Do you have colored shoes?

I never knew people equated long toenails with french pedis...lol. My toenails are never long and I always get them cut or filed when I get a pedi. They don't hang over my toe or anything close, yet I get french pedi's and I love how they look. LOL...I plan to wear clear nails on my wedding day...or maybe something super pale like cotton candy.

I do get solid colors sometimes when I want to try something different. I don't think it is necessarily tacky, but it does depend on the actual color.

Are you asking your girls to wear a certain color or can they do whatever they want with their nails and toenails?

I haven't really thought about the girls, but they will probably do a french pedi. I trust their judgement, so I think it's safe to tell them they can get whatever color they are comfy with.

My shoes are colored so I figured I don't have to go crazy with color on my toes. I'm thinking of a purple shade but I'm not sure yet.

If you're going with a more formal look, the colored polish probably wouldn't work as well but if you are going more casual, destination or just fun and informal, the colored nail polish probably would work ok.

Also, if you want a happy medium, you might go with a semi-nude or nude color, like a really pale pink or peach.  It's a color and the french pedicure is then not needed.  You could even go with rhinestones or something on your toes since you're a Hotlanta girl like me.  Why not a beautiful pale pink/peach and white design?

I don't think it's tacky at all. It will be a nice pop of color. I say go for it.

Try some colors out now so you will know what you want and like for your special day. Do not let us or anyone else stop you from doing something on the day that you are going to be happy with!

I don't think it's tacky, but it def shouldn't be a color that would take the attention straight to your toes..lol I personally would not do color for the wedding day, even though I tend to go agains the grain, the wedding day is different, so I am going to go with a nice neutral color, instead of the always used french.

I don't think it's tacky, especially since you mentioned that you aren't going with a wild out there neon orange.  I am doing a french pedicure but I don't have long toenails LOL.  The will just create the white line with whatever is remaining on the toenail.  LOL.  I usually just go for a thin white line anyways.

I will definitely be painting my toes red. I dislike french pedis so that made my choice easy.

But, its up to you, I agree with the other ladies, if you're too shy to do a full color, do a nude or light pink....
