Non-traditional venues for 150-175 guests, northern NJ?

Looking for a loft...barn...eclectic space for a wedding. I've done tons of google searches and haven't come up with anything.  Suggestions?

I'm looking for something along the lines of the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, NY...but in NJ. : )

I would try NJPAC, for sure.. Completely non-traditional, modern, and obviously beautiful!

I was curious for a long time about the Lackawanna Plaza loft in Montclair, but the pictures I saw when I was planning didn't look very nice ( http://www.eventsbyjoni.com/loft.htm ) , and my now-husband nixed the idea. But if these pictures were around then, maybe we would have given it a shot!

South Orange Performing Arts Center has an event space (they call it a "loft," for what it's worth), but it looks like you'd have to bring in a lot of decor to make it look festive. http://www.sopacnow.org/facility/sopac-loft

I was also eyeing the Loew's Jersey movie theater in Jersey City. But you'd have to bring in everything, and they don't have kitchen facilities for the caterer. And I don't think they have space for dancing.

We wound up at Orange Lawn Tennis Club, which you'd probably call a "traditional" venue because it's essentially a country club (but with tennis instead of golf), but it looks and feels nothing like the traditional banquet hall/wedding factory. Its ballroom has an open, airy feel, and we didn't have to worry about catering or rentals.

I was looking for the same sort of thing, but also just decided on Orange Lawn Tennis Club (I'll warn in advance that I've had some issues getting the catering director to return calls/emails -- but we love the place and the catering director has been able to work well within our budget, and he's great when he actually does get back to us. We also talked to another bride that did hers there with him recently and couldn't have been happier, so we're crossing our fingers that all goes smoothly -- I know it will). And 37 Butter Knives also loved the place. It's traditional in that it's a pretty place with lovely grounds, but non-traditional in that it's not a catering hall or restaurant, but a working tennis club. The reception is held in the clubhouse, which has the feel of an old estate or inn. If the weather permits, I'll have the ceremony out on the lawn.
