Floor Length BM dresses

Hey Knotties,
Our Cincy wedding is in exactly a year today! :)
 
It's going to be a 1 PM ceremony, followed by a 4 hour lapse for us to take pictures with a 6 pm cocktail hour.
I need some opinions...
The ceremony is going to be full on formal Mass with a ballroom reception and I'm aiming for blacktie formal. So, my thought is, the BM and MOH should wear floorlength dresses but my wedding coordinator thinks floor is too much for a 1 pm wedding.
What do you think?

    i think floor length is fine for any ceremony time. it has more to do with the general look so if you're going black tie - floor length it is. :)

    Yea? Good, thats what I'm thinking. One of my bridesmaids is short, but we tried floorlength and she looked great so... maybe floor? I'm tempted to pull the "because its what I want" clause. :)

    I think floor length would be fine as well! I say go for it, especially if it's what you want!

    What are your guests going to do while you take pictures?  I have a similar situation - ceremony at 2 pm and reception at 6 pm (formal like yours!) - but almost all of my 150 guests are coming from out of town.  I'm not sure what to do with them.  Our ceremony and reception sites are about 15 minutes apart.  Help!

    My ceremony was at 11:30 in the morning and my bridesmaids all had floor length dresses. It depends on your taste and how formal the wedding is. If you want black-tie, then floor length is perfectly fine. If, however, they were knee length, then that would be totally different.

    Ooh, I'm so excited to hear from everyone! And I'm completely sold. I'm doing floor lenth.

    I will also be having 99% of my guests come from out of town... I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing to do for everyone but I'm thinking to list a few places downtown where our friends might want to hang out or a few museums or so forth for family members or friends with young kids. We're downtown so I imagine everyone can manage to stay busy. I think most of our guests will go out and get a drink!
