Ceremony music

For those of you who are not getting married in a church (or even if you are), what are you doing for ceremony music?  Obviously an organ is out so I'm thinking maybe a harpist, but I don't know.   I'm having a DJ, but I'd like to have live music as I walk down the aisle.  Any thoughts/recomendations?

Re: Ceremony music

  • We are getting married in a church, but will have a solo sax player and a piano player.  The organ was out for us regardless of where we got married.

  • We're using a harpist, Karen Stern. She's been great to work with.

  • I'm getting married at my venue and just using my DJ.  I couldn't justify spending $400+ on live music for 30 minutes.  We are using songs from Vitamin String Quartet to keep it classic with the violins but more modern with songs people will know.

  • We are getting married at our venue and our DJ is playing the traditional music you would hear at a church wedding.
  • We are having an acoustic guitar.  We are going to have him play more contemporary music.  It is the guitarist from our band though, so it is only an extra $100 to have him play the ceremony.

  • I wanted an acoustic guitar but we wound up using our DJ instead.  He also made sure the ceremony was "mic-ed" so everyone could hear.  We asked him to play more contemporary music rather than the classic stuff.
