kids activity packets

I recently realized that we will only have one child at the wedding, FI's 9 year old cousin. We invited more, but they're not coming. I don't want her to be bored so I'm making an activity kit for her.

So far it includes some coloring pages, a picture of a blank cake for her to "decorate" and a word search. We're also including one of those "I Spy" games (clicky) with a disposable camera and I was thinking of including a few toys/puzzles and a ring pop.

Is this stuff too juvenile for a 9 year old?
For other knotties doing activity kits, what are you including?

  • I thought about including those glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets.

  • I love those ideas... but we're also putting a 'wedding activity placemat' and a set of crayons at each seat... so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

    :)

We figure, we like coloring on placemats at restaurants, so why have them just for kids??  :)

  • glow in the dark bracelets are currently in the dollar section at Target (I think there are 16 in each pack)

  • I have 3 kids who I need ideas to entertain, I have decided some coloring sheets and crayons, also theres some 'activity bags' at micheals for 1.50 so I got a cars one, a dora one and a diego one, they have some stickers, the dora one has a bracelet. I don't really have the budget to entertain children, but i thought getting them that might help, We also are having a pinata so I am hoping they will be fine with that.

  • What age range are the kids you are making bags for? We have a wide range of kids from 7 months to 12. I was not sure who to include with the bags. Should I make different bags for different ages or just the kids between 1 or 2 to 8? I don't want to offent any of the kids but at the same time some of the older kids may bring game boys or other electronic stuff and will be bored with coloring books. Any ideas?
