  It sounds lovely but in reality it will really add time to your walk down the aisle, many won't just want to hand you the flower but will want to hug you and/or say something to you which will make it even longer.  If you want to do something like this I would restrict it to a few people and have them seated strategially with the understanding that they hand it to you with a smile and that's it, you keep moving on and collect the next one. 
  
  Another thing to thing about is it may give you a disorganized handful of flowers that you then need to neatly handoff to your MOH, without dropping them, while you taking your vows.  Your MOH may also be juggling her own flowers too (or she could hand them to the bridesmad next to her). 
  
  Think the whole process through in your head, even walk it out in your living room just to see what it might be like. It could work and be very nice or it could be it won't give the affect you really want.

  Sounds great in theory, but in practice I think it'd be weird logististically to hand out all the flowers to guests, prep them for what's going to happen, etc.

  What if you had a basket of flowers in the entryway to your ceremony and had people pick pieces to add to a vase to create your bouquet? You could have a little sign explaining the idea and then you have a chance to tie all the pieces up in a ribbon or twine before you go down the aisle and make the "hand off" easier on you and your attendant. Maybe pick a lot of small blooms and perhaps only a handful or larger blooms but with lots of varying colors and such. You'll be able to control what you want in the bouquet and able to include your guests but save the time of walking up the aisle. Just brainstorming- I do like your idea but PP make good points about possible problems in the execution.

  Wow thanks for all the great input!!! So right, I was talking it over with my FI and he pointed out as well that it just seems overly complicated and makes for a loooong walk down the aisle. Plus, something I didn't even consider but, duh, someone will be holding my bouquet during the ceremony and yes, it will be awkward with this random collection of flowers tied up together.
