Vow surprise ruined =( Kinda rambling, just wanted to share

So we'd decided to write our own vows, and FI had the idea to start w/a line from a song that reminds us of the other, and build a few lines from that. The other night at dinner I asked him what song he'd picked, knowing he wouldn't tell me. He did say that he needed to change one word in it so that he would be addressing me.

Last night, we were in the car and Eddie Vedder's "Hard Sun" came on the radio. He loves that song, so he turned it up right away, and then I heard the first line, "When I walk beside her, I am a better man..." I just looked at him, and he said, "Damn you!" Not actually mad, I just have a history of unknowingly figuring out surprises.

So I'm a tiny bit bummed it won't be a surprise, but it was kind of a relief to tell him mine and hear that he liked it, since he's so picky about music... I picked a line from This Magic Moment, "Everything I want I have whenever I hold you tight."

I love that idea- really sweet. I'm just like you when it comes to figuring out surprises! I have yet to not figure out Christmas and birthday gifts, also totally knew that he was planning on proposing (I would love to be taken totally by surprise just once!). Good luck!!

    That's such a beautiful idea:)

One thing we didn't do that, looking back, I'm really glad we didn't...is practice our vows at the rehearsal.  It made them entirely new and fresh to us in the moment of the ceremony...and definitely made me really emotional.

Just something to consider, since you are thinking about vows!

@LolaBelle -- I don't think anyone practices their vows at the rehearsal, do they? At every rehearsal I've been to, the officiant/minister just says something like "and this is where you will say your vows, you'll repeat the lines after me" and then moves on. Definitely better to not say them out loud before the actual ceremony, though -- glad you didn't!
