My sister (my MOH) brought my gift over to him while he was getting ready with his guys (we got ready at the same place) and she brought his gift to me back with her.
We gave each other small gifts and exchanged them in the hotel room after our reception. It's basically whatever you're comfortable with and there's no right or wrong time to give them.
We did not give each other wedding presents (well, except for our wedding rings, although we bought them together anyway). We paid for our wedding ourselves and so we didn't feel it was necessary to spend more money just because it is "traditional".
However, we did have cards for each other that we each had delivered before the ceremony during the "getting ready" time. We didn't plan that, it just worked out that way and it was very sweet.
I personally would give the gift the day of with a letter to the other person while getting ready. I have also seen people give their gifts during the RD. It's up to you. Good Luck!
Re: Wedding Gifts to eachother.
I have heard of people doing this during the "first look" (we also didn't have one of those).
