Recommendations for photographers

My Fiance and I still have not picked a photographer yet for our June of 2013 wedding. Anyone have any recommendations for reasonably priced photographers in the area - maybe someone you have used before? We would ideally like to have 2 photographers and spend no more than $2,000 but I am not sure how doable this is.

Re: Recommendations for photographers

  • I have a friend using Memory Makers, which is in your budget. Evan Godwin is a popular budget photographer, but I have no idea what his price range is.

Evan Godwin is probably my favorite in that price point.  Be aware though that we have had a couple of Knotties that have had bad experiences with him at the beginning of the process (although not with the photos themselves).

    Also look at Karen Scruggs.

    And Stephanie Brazzle

Although both are great, I believe their pricing only reflects one photographer.  Also maybe try Maddie Pie Creations.

  • Hi.  We booked Cornfield Photography out of Ft. Worth for our March 2013 wedding.  I met Kelsey at a bridal show and just really liked her and the look of her photos plus she's super responsive.  Also, we are having lots of kids at the wedding so I was looking for someone who is good with children.  Good luck!

  • We used Jeremy and Kristin. They are a husband and wife team and they were awesome. They were easy to communicate with and still are to this day about ordering pictures. I could not recommend a better team.
  • I highly recommend Mike Lewis of www.mikelewisphotography.com. He has a couple packages under $2000, and is worth every penny.  He'll even work to customize a package with you, and make sure your photographs show off you and your personality.  The package we got was $1900 and included two photographers all day on our wedding, $250 print credit, leather album, engagement photos (or bridal portraits for a small upcharge), 3 smaller albums, photocards as gifts for guests at the wedding, and much, much more.  Check him out!
  • I highly recommend Evan Godwin! I had a great experience with him. The package we choose was 6 hour, 1 photog for around $1000. And that was a mid range package, including our engagement photos. I believe all of his pricing is listed on his website. But, I know he has a 2 photog package for around your price point. Here is a link to our photos...http://evangodwinphotoblog.com/avanti-fountain-place-wedding/ The best part is he is way cool and easy to talk to!
  • Thanks for all the great recommendations ladies! Right now I am thinking we may go with Stephanie Brazzle photography or Life is Art Aravaggio photography. We have meetings scheduled with both soon.

I am wondering for those of you who have gotten married already - did you enjoy having 2 photographers at your wedding? Did it make a big difference in the photographs you received and just overall experience? Or is it not a big deal breaker?
  • We had two photographers and it's nice because they get you coming down the aisle and the groom looking up the aisle. Also, one is always around--to give the other a bathroom break, etc. It's also a good back-up.

If you're still looking I used Brooke with Beautiful Evolutions -- Loved her!

  • We had 3 photographers and we believe they were much needed. The company added a third photographer at no additional charge because of the way and timeline I wanted pics done........I didnt want to see my husband prior but we wanted to get bridal party pics done before ceremony and also the scenery pics. One photographer took pics of me and my bridesmaids in one location, one photoghapher did the same for my husband and his groomsmen, while the last photographer got shots of the reception area etc so that we would be on time for everything.

  • While I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker if you're on a budget, I will say that I paid for 2 and I'm glad I did.
  • I agree that it isn't a deal breaker, but I did like the fact that we had 2. I think we got a lot of detail shots that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. I would suggest though to ask how long the second shooter will be around. Mine only stayed half the night, which wasn't a huge deal but also wasn't what I was expecting.

I second Stephanie Brazzle. We used her for our wedding a few months ago and I was very happy with her!

  • Oh, I loved Arravaggio! She was our second choice!

We have offically decided to go with Aravaggio Photography - Thank you cwaggoner for the referral (saw you posted her name on another post on this local board)! We absolutely loved her - she is such a great photographer and truly as sweet as can be.

We did meet with Stephanie Brazzle as well - just a heads up for any other ladies who may be considering her: there seems to be a lot of hidden costs with her. From our experience, the amount you see listed for the package is not going to resemble the amount you will actually be paying. All in all she was nice enough I suppose - just did not fit at all with our personalities.
