Do you participate in other boards, or plan to move to other boards?

Morning ladies! Just a random question I've been thinking about. Are any of you active on other boards? Do you plan to participate on the nest or the bump after this? I occasionally lurk on some nest boards, but I feel weird posting there. Not that you have to be married to post there, but I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. And, of course, I'm not bumping yet, but probably will in the future. But I think I'll also feel a tad weird staying around the knot after getting married. Of course I'll check in on my old boards, but I kind of feel like I'd want to move on.

So what's your plan for the boards? Is being on the boards just for asking questions while you plan your wedding? Are you a dedicated knottie/soon-to-be nestie/soon-to-be bumpie? Are message boards totally stupid? Haha! What do you think?

Re: Do you participate in other boards, or plan to move to other boards?

  • I'm very active on the Etiquette board here and I do plan on staying active once I get marrried. I mean - who best to give advice than someone that has already been married? I will also continue to post on this board because it's not very active and I feel like people need advice. I actually wouldn't mind becoming moderator of this board if MyMatt ever decides to step down.

I will most likely post on TheBump in the future - but I don't see myself Nesting very much (although I will probably take advantage of the other features of that site). Only because I know the ladies on the E board can help me out with most (if not all) of my nesting questions. But you're not alone in thinking that it will be strange to post here after you're married. Most people move on.
  • Usually I am on the Etiquette board, I like to be on this board but I wish that it was more active.

  • Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with staying on the knot post marriage. There's a lot that goes on at weddings and during those first few years that could be really valuable to someone who is just about to start that phase. And most boards, at any given 23ish year stretch have a core group o people and they become your board family. That's hard to move away from. Its also hard to break into a new board. Especially when you are a regular and totally comfortable on another board. I dunno, I guess I'm just voicing some silly concerns. I have a weird itch to move on to the nest, but being a been again sucks balls.
  • Also Poke, you should totally be the Mod. I haven't seen MyMatt since I started posting here. Granted, that hasn't been long I only got engaged at the end of February but the mod hasn't come out of hiding in months! Come out, come out, mod!!! The newer Atlanta Knotties would love to meet you!
  • Nope! AndNope! I kinda wanna delete my acct on here. How do I do that?

I think that you have to email them to delete the account.

  • I'm usually on this board, and the African-American and September 2012 board. After the wedding, I do plan to return to update but I don't see myself coming back as often as I do now and when I do, I'd do more lurking than posting. I don't really get the purpose of the TheNest (sorry I can be a lil airhead at times lol smh). FH and I plan to expand our family right away so I'll be on the TheNest.

And of course, I don't think message boards are totally stupid! I don't think I'd be here if I thought so lol. These message boards have become my way of connecting to people with similar issues and concerns. I mean, I think we all can agree that in one way or another these boards have helped us.

  • I am mostly active on the May 2012 board.  They talked about setting up a nest anniversary board, which I'll probably post on some after I get married.

Some of the ladies are not to nice on others parts of the board. It has left a bad taste in my mouth.
