Wedding Shoppe!  I had a horrid experience at David's Bridal and if I never set foot in one again, I'd be a happy girl.  :)

Definitely The Wedding Shoppe! And not Dena Marie...I had an awful experience there. I would have gone to Brides of France, too, if I hadn't found my dress at the Wedding Shoppe. I've heard great things about there, as well!

I got mine at The Bridal Shop at Macys, (ask for Kathy)  downtown Mpls. Had an awesome experience! (review in bio) They have a ton of demetrios dresses which was the designer I saw in mags that I fell in love with. They say their desses start out at $1000 but $1,500 was my budget and they found a ton for me. I think she brought in like 10 for me the first wave and had 10 more but #2 was mine!

I also had an apt. at Rushs Bridal Salon (http://www.rushs.com/) also downtown Mpls. But since I found mine on the first shot I cancelled this one.

I got my dress at Napier Bridal in W. St. Paul -- the shop itself is very tiny and all the dresses are kind of shoved together, but the lady was very helpful and I got my dress for less than $200!

I also went to David's Bridal in Richfield, had a good experience -- but was a little bummed because my consultant was also consulting with 3 other girls at the same time. So, I didn't get too much attention.

    Good Luck!

I got my dress at the Bridal Warehouse in Blaine. The place doesn't look all that super, but they have lots of dresses and I found a Sottero and Midgley there for half off! Totally worth a visit IMO. The lady who runs the place used to be a top designer back in the day, so I know that my alterations will be fab.

I second Macy's, downtown...I got an awesome deal on a sample.

If you go to the Wedding Shoppe I would recommend making an appt during the week, I went on a Saturday and had horrible service.

    good luck!!

I got mine at the Wedding Connection in Maplewood. I really liked it there and would definitely recommend it.

I got mine at Our Shop in Stillwater. I also went to the wedding shoppe, Glenrose Bridal, and The Bridal Center. I had good experiences at all the shops. I found The Wedding Shoppe had the most dresses but when it came time to go back and try my top choice on again to make my final decision they had sold the sample gown. Glenrose Bridal had a ton of dresses which surprised me. It was a pretty ratty looking shop but they had a great selection once I started digging in. I got the most dresses on my short list from there. The Bridal Center didn't have a lot to choose from, they had a great consultant but nothing really jumped out at me. Our Shop I had never even heard of, I knew there was Raffine's or something like that in Stillwater but Our Shop was right on Main Street and I just walked in off the street when we were down there for lumberjack days. They didn't have a ton of dresses but each dress was different from what they did have. A lot of the dresses I had seen in magazines and hadn't seen at any other stores. I guess that was my biggest observation, none of the shops carry the same dresses, which is a good and a bad thing. I like to try things on side by side which became impossible to do when only one shop had the dress even though they all carry the same designers. Just keep an open mind and go to a few places. I ended up with a dress that was nothing like the image I had in my mind going in. Good luck!

I would recommend L'Atelier Couture, so far my experience has been nothing but the best.  I also had an appointment at Rush's and Priscilla of Boston, both of those were good too.  I've had a couple of horror stories from the Wedding Shoppe, the worst being from my sister...they screwed up the order on her dress when she was a junior bm, they ordered an adult size instead of a kids size and then refused to fix it.  My mom had to pay through the nose for them to alter the dress (they had to remove two whole panels) and since then the shop has always been jaded IMO. My mom would never buy a dress from there again.  Also a friend recently got married and ordered her dress through the wedding shoppe, she had an appointment set to go in for her first fitting and to pick up the dress...she drove all the way down there to find out that the dress hadn't come in yet, no one called to tell her this so they could reschedule her appointment, she showed up...no dress.

Mary Kay's Bridal in St. Louis Park was very help when I was looking for my dress.  No appt needed and they don't work on commission.

I can't say enough positive things about Priscilla of Boston in Edina. Their price point starts around $800 for their Vineyard collection, so I'm not sure if that's within her budget. If you can, I'd ask to work with Raina. I went to over 20 dress shops (I know, crazy) and I found the best variety and quality here.

If you find a gown that you love but's out of your price range, try preowned wedding dress websites. POB is a really popular label (Melissa Sweet, Vineyard, etc.) and you can find most of their dresses for sale used for half the price.
