7 Months til Wedding..Need 50# to lose

How oh how...what's the best way?? I've been planning the wedding for over a year and I haven't lost anything and I'm so miserable its even effecting my relationship with FI since I don't feel sexy anymore. :( I need motivation, share your tips please.

  • So what have you been doing the last year that isn't working?

It's easier to give advice if we know what you've tried.  How many calories do you eat per day?  How many calories do you burn through exercise per day?  What kind of foods are you eating mostly?
  • hi...i feel ya...im doing weight watchers well see  n
  • 1. SparkPeople or a similar site.
    2. GET JUNK OUT OF THE HOUSE. Seriously. All of it.  Even the really cute little puding cups that you swear you'll just eat one of.
    3. Focus on what you DO love about your body.  Standing in front of the mirror making fun of yourself and picking yourself apart only makes things worse.
  • In addition to what Anna said.  What have you set for goals for yourself?   Setting a large goal at the beginning can be overwhelming.  Set a small goal at first like  "I want to lose 5 pounds by September 1st."

For myself I knew I needed to lose 35-40 pounds.   I set mini goals for myself and have not put a final date on when I want to lose the weight by.  At first it was I want to lose 10 pounds by March.  Then it was lose 5 more pounds by first dress fitting.  Then 5 more pounds by the wedding.

  • Ditto what everyone else said.  I'm on weight watchers and it's helped me be accountable.  My goal was to lose 8lbs (my 5%) goal by this saturday.  I need to lose 2 lbs this week in order to do that but if I don't it's not the end of the world.  Cut out all soda and junk.  If you have a craving for something sweet have a little something but don't cut yourself off completely unless you have willpower.  I can't otherwise I binge and gain back the weight I already lost.

  • Thanks ladies...basically been working out and eating healthy..then something happens, I lose motivation, an event, someone tells me how great I look and boooooom, eat a little something here and there and before I know it, it's out of control once again and the weight has come back on. How to do all STAY motivated, I really don't want to be fat at my wedding where I should look the most beautiful. Something else that makes me upset is that I have so much to lose and any goal just seems so unrealistic or out of my reach. I went to my dr and asked for phentermine and she said no. However, she recommended HCG but I heard so many negative things about that, I haven't done it yet. I'm getting desperate and may turn to that if I can't do this alone

DO NOT do HCG. Just search these forums and you will see a boatload of bad.</div><div>
</div><div>As for staying motivated, I agree with PPs about setting smaller goals and then maybe once you reach a small goal you can reward yourself (new pair of jeans, new shirt...whatever you know will work for you).</div><div>
</div><div>I keep myself motivated just by having realized that this is a whole lifestyle change, not just some short term diet. My longterm health is a great motivator. I also find it helps when FI and friends are supportive of my goals and encourage me.</div><div>
</div><div>Maybe try having your FI stick to a fitness routine with you - you could also try cooking healthy meals together. Make it about both of you, not just yourself, and that may make you stick to it better.

  • I would suggest not thinking about the overall goal.  I want to lose 40lbs but that terrifies me.  I started with I want to lose 10 lbs.  When I get there I will take myself and get a mani/pedi as a reward.  When I get to 20 lbs I'm going to buy myself some new clothes.  When I get to 30lbs I'm going to do something else and so on.  You could even break it into 5 lb increments if you want.  I signed up for a 5K and i really don't want to walk it.  That's motivation enough for me to keep going to the gym when I want to give up.

  • Ladies:

Give DDPYoga a shot! It's awesome. Done wonders for me and the wife. I've dropped almost 20 in little over a month! She's gotten a nice tighter bum and lossed 10lbs in less then 3 weeks!

Instead of a 'diet' you get a 'nutritional guide" because after all; diets die!

  • I did weight watchers - using the app and website you are able to hold yourself accountable and stay on track!  I tried counting calories to no avail and would end up starving and eating everything in site.. Although I didn't have that much to lose (10lbs) it worked - and I have been maintaining my weight since April and really haven't exercised - just a suggestion hope it works :)

All the PP are right and smaller goals are a must.  It is very overwhelming to think of such a large number.  I made myself small goals and mine are related to events (outfit shopping). September I want to be down 15 lbs for a friends wedding, next would be a smaller goal for halloween etc.

I know its hard and I am the same way about easily falling off but ya just gotta stick to it even if its tough! I know you can do it and you will look beautiful on your wedding day!
  • Thank you so much ladies!! <3 I'll be here helping you reach and maintain yours while you're here to help with mine! ;)
