Wow! Quiet Board! What's everyone doing?

Hello, happy Saturday!

Is everyone doing Christmas preparation? We're tidying up a bit today, paying bills, and I'm looking for recipes for venison stew to cook in my new slow cooker. DH is in the shower, then we're heading out to look for kestrels (DH is a master falconer and I'm hoping to get my apprentice permit soon).

What are you up to?

Sounds exciting. I'm home sick with a nasty cold :( Was going to take FI's kids Christmas shopping, but I don't think I should be driving. Hello amazon. Other than that, I learned how to properly froth milk today for delicious cappuccinos. (productive, right?) Anybody else?

I'm currently in bum status (sweats, tea) with the chilly, rainy weather. Tonight H and I have a Christmas party for the clinic he works with, so I'm waiting to get ready-ready for that, since it is dressy.

Our Christmas cards arrived in the mail Thursday, and I got them mostly addressed yesterday waiting for our new hot water heater to arrive (long story short, it isn't getting installed until Tuesday -- boo -- but at least we still have hot water). I hope to get the decorations out of the attic tomorrow and start decorating this weekend/one night this week. I especially want my Advent wreath, since we'll already be on the second week by the time I get it going. Boo. Christmas stuff goes into high gear next week, so I'm hoping to have the decorations up to help build Christmas spirit.

Louisa -- feel better soon. It is a better day for Amazon than shopping anyway.

    Linda -- sounds fun! Enjoy!

My Christmas cards came in the mail today, so I'm working on addressing them and writing nice messages inside. I've never sent out cards before so its a fun and new experience. We're trying another new parish tomorrow. I miss our home parish but the distance is too far to drive every week. Hopefully we'll find a new home soon.

    Feel better, Louisa!

I'm up in Pampa with DH.  We looked at three houses today, all quite different, all quite awesome, so we're still uncertain.  H has been hinting that we might be here longer than the three years we'd originally planned, so we're probably going to go with a bit bigger house so we'll have room for a family if it comes along while we're here.  I fly back tomorrow, and hopefully someone can come pick me up from the airport.  My car died while I was at school Friday and we couldn't even jump start it.  =(  It's one of those push-to-start cars and I'd been having some trouble with it not immediately starting on first push, but never found the time to have it checked.  Guess that bit me in the butt.

And my goal this week is to have my apartment completely organized, get all my donations to the school, and get all my storage stuff into storage.  I've got thank-you cards to write and I'd really like to make some Christmas cards with some wedding photos if we can get them in time (supposed to be ready Monday).

Now we're enjoying football.  Baylor thrashed UT, so I'm a happy bear.  =)

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.  We're checking out the parish here in Pampa tomorrow!

Morning everyone!  I was doing stuff for my college sorority all day yesterday.  It was our chapter's founders' day celebration (of which I am one of).  8 years, yeesh.  Anyway, it's always fun to see the new girls, and my family tree is still going strong!

Today I've got church and then probably just doing some cleaning around the house the rest of the day.  We might go somewhere to watch the Browns' game, but I don't know for sure yet.

We went to church this morning and then have been cleaning and tidying up. It has been a fun, but busy weekend. Yesterday, we got tires on my car which is a relief since snow will likely be flying soon. After H and I are done folding and putting laundry away and cleaning our room, I am going to be relaxing the rest of the night on the couch with a book and some football.

    Hi all!

We had a busy day today. Church 'date' with Darian's godmother and brunch after, then we went to Darian's new daycare to put down a deposit and sign the contracts (he'll be starting next summer). I am so relieved to have that taken care of. The waitlists for childcare in my city are just ridiculous and I was really worried about getting something.

Ring_Pop - your little boy is SO cute!!!

We saw five kestrels yesterday...it was pretty cool!

Last night was my first time cantoring with the new Mass. I was very nervous! Since we haven't practiced the new music yet, we recited the Holy, Holy, Mystery of Faith, and Lamb of God. I realized as we started that I wasn't sure which Mystery we were doing (usually it's "When we eat this bread.."). But fortunately the priest spoke the first word or two and then I knew which one it was! I also wasn't sure when to start the Lamb of God, since I usually listen for the music, but that went okay too. Whew!

Today we slept in a bit, then I made the venison stew. We took a short drive to look for more kestrels, but there weren't many out since it was raining and cold. We did see one, and one redtail.

The stew was excellent!!!! I might cut back a bit on the garlic, onion and pepper next time, but it was so good and so filling.

Hope you had a great weekend...

    Linda

I work in childcare/preschool and the wait lists are horrendous where I work, too. But of course the price of it is a small fortune. We have only family who has 3 kids at our center and the Mom told me one day the check that she writes to our school is more than her mortagage. That is kinda sad, but I am sure it gives her peace of mind and comfort to know they are in a great place. You definitely do get the quality of care that you pay for.
