New Miss July!

Hi everyone! After some lurking, I've decided to introduce myself.
Nice to meet you all

I'm getting married on July 13 in NY. I live in Italy so I'm completely stressed out about everything and this week things got even worse for me when I found out that FFIL doesn't feel that MY PARENTS should be spending so much money on our wedding.

I've started doubting my wedding colors (coral (or pink punch as it's called by Ann Taylor) and turquoise (mermaid teal). My maid and matron of honor are wearing the coral dress and my other BMs are wearing turquoise, hmmmm.

Flowers will be coral and white with turquoise ribbon wrapped stem

Don't have transportation yet, this is kind of worrying..I'll probably end up on the subway

I must say at this point I feel really detached from the wedding. I want it to be July 14 and be married to FI and live happily ever after.

didn't want my intro to be so depressing, sorry...I must say though I have enjoyed reading your posts and I've gotten some great ideas for the card box

welcome! I really like your colors, actually. What are you doubting about them? Do you have others in mind?

I'm also planning from Europe, so I can relate on some of your areas of stress. Plus, I think everyone is kind of feeling it now that we are in the 5 month range for many... eek!

Hey BMore, where are you? I just feel they're too much and I don't know why I picked them! I don't have any others in mind and I can't do anything about them now because BMs have their dresses already. The only thing I was maybe thinking was not have so many coral flowers and focus more on white with pops of coral.

Do you have mostly everything planned?

Welcome! Another international bride! I'm planning from Ecuador but our wedding will be here.. so I'm not planning from afar like you and Bmore. My family will be coming here.

Why do you think the colors are too much? I LOVE that combo! Very bright and fresh. I mean I guess it could be too much if the colors are overload everywhere.. but I wouldn't say the color combo itself is too much you know? Those are some of my favorite colors!!

I don't think your colors are too much- what do you mean by "too much" though?? You could add a neutral color into the mix if you feel the colors are overwhelming everything else. Like white, silver, or even black?

It's a bit strange that your FFIL thinks that your parents shouldn't be spending too much on the wedding. It's not really any of their business. My parents are paying for most of the wedding and my MIL has mentioned that it was "a lot of money!" and how we should do other things instead to "save money". We are actually doing our best- we don't pick anything expensive, but it just happens that our wedding is in a town where everything costs way more compared to where MIL is from. I just shrug it off whenever she brings it up.

Why are you concerned about transportation? I'm sure you could probably find few kinds of transportation, you still have a lot of time before the wedding!

Welcome! Everyone here is so nice. Our colors are fuschia and turquoise. I think they are beautiful together. What doubts are you having about them? I have not even started with flowers yet and my MOH is my only attendant and getting her own dress.

Welcome, and yay for international brides! I live in Belgium, and our wedding will be here too (we are not American, I just somehow landed on the knot while googling). Where do you live in Italy? It must be very stressy to plan from so far away!

I think your colors sound good. But if you're worried it might be too much, I agree to soften it up with white. Maybe have the bridesmaids all wear coral and have just little teal touches here and there?

My FI and I live in London, but our wedding will be in Baltimore, MD. I'm American from DC and my FI is Peruvian & Croatian, and he recently got his U.S. citizenship :)

I think with the dresses you have for the BMs, mostly ivory or pale pink flowers would be very pretty. You could have the greens on the stems exposed above and below the ribbon to give a pop of color, without it being "too much".

Hi everyone! Thanks for responding! I really needed to say what I was feeling!

I live in Verona, city of Romeo and Juliet

I've been here for 5 years and met my Fiance here (online four years ago next september).

I guess when I said my colors are too much it's because now I'm kicking myself that I decided to have the MOHs wear coral while the other girls wear turquoise. I have white as my accent color for the centerpieces ( bought a whole bunch of different sized vases from Michaels and 99 cent stores and spray painted them white) and then I discussed with the florist that she will use turquoise washi tape or ribbon to bring in the turquoise. I'll see what it all looks like in june when they show me samples. Fingers crossed...

Ohhhh Verona is on my bucket list and so isn't the rest of Italy! lol.

Welcome. I don't think the colors are loud, I think they are bright and summery. If you don't like them maybe you can add a softer color like Bmore suggested.

welcome nancy!! i think your colors sound adorable but i totally agree with bmore!! this would be adorable! i think you should have another neutral - like maybe ivory or cream or even champagne - to offset the bright colors. for example maybe do ivory linens with pops of your colors in the centerpieces and napkins, things like that. the dresses sound adorable but too much use of the colors to decorate might be overwhelming (which i think may perhaps be what your worry was in the first place!)
