Alternative to the sand ceremony...

I thought I'd share with you all...

I was looking for an alternative to the sand ceremony...IMO, it looks like the sand art I did in 5th grade, and I wanted something more meaningful to keep around the house than an elementary school art project.  And so, I found this:

Wedding hourglasses!  You can fill it with colored sand, sands from the beaches of your hometowns, etc.
I really like the symbology that goes with the hourglasses, that being that as time turns, the different sands become more intermixed, becoming harder to separate.

    I <3 SANDART! LOL!!!

I'm doing the sand ceremony with a shadow box frame and a picture of us on it. I wasn't too thrilled with displaying sandart in my home either, so the frame is something I'd be happy to display. It will still have the symbolizism of the "unity" but in a more "everyday" way of displaying it.

Thereis a pic of the frame on my bio.

That hour glass idea is cute! I'm not a fan of any of the unity/commitment ceremony things - (sand ceremonies, unity candles, braided cords). I thought my wedding might seem strange without SOMETHING, so my fi and I are going to write one another a sweet love letter on the day of our wedding, and during the ceremony will put them in a bottle, then seal the bottle. The plan is that on our 10th wedding anniversary we'll bust the bottle open and read our letters to one another.
