Exit Stuff/Bubble Alternatives

Hi!  Our church basically does not allow any kind of tossing as we exit the sanctuary - no rice, birdseed, confetti, etc., and I'm SO over bubbles, they seem very 1990s to me...
Does anyone have a suggestion for something cute and fun to exit with that doesn't involve littering? :)
TIA!!

  • My substitution would be clapping and cheering.  Easy, free, eco-friendly, and not lame.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Wands with paper tails.  People wave them and it looks really pretty.

  • How about baloons? I loved this idea for my wedding...but the only drawbcak (which kept me from doing this) is making sure that that many people have a baloon to to let go. It's so beautiful though and I think it would make for beautiful pics.
  • I think we are going to do sparklers.  You can buy long lasting ones that burn white.  We also looked into releasing butterflies.

If you search google images, the pictures of both sparklers and butterfly releases at weddings look really cool :)
  • We didn't provide anything for our exit.

I think sparklers look nice if they're legal in your area.
  • Sparklers are a nice idea. They look beautiful in photographs.  Dove releases are also a good option. We had one because doves not only have special meaning in our religion, but the tradition had a special meaning to me since my father has bred and raised homing pigeons since I was a child. The "doves" released are actually "rock doves," which are white homing pigeons. Upon release, they head to their home loft.

Skip the balloons. They're terrible for the environment as they will eventually become litter. They're also against the law in some areas.

Butterfly releases are a disaster waiting to happen. The butterflies are frozen for transport and often die. It's not so pretty when a bunch of butterflies fall to the ground from the box.
  • kazoos and such that make a lot of nosie

  • Balloon release are bad since they often end up inside of animals who eat them thinking they are food (after they pop/deflate of course), and the string can entangle birds and other wildlife.

Wow dead butterfly release.  I think clapping and random shouting of congratulations is a good alternative.
  • I like the idea of giving everyone a little bell to ring.  I haven't found any reasonably priced bells that don't look really cheap, so it may not be the best idea.
  • I'm planninig on doing sparklers. I hear they're illegal in my area, but I've seen them all over--even at weddings at my very venue!

They make a beautiful send-off for night time!
  • My friend released butterflies at her wedding and it was beautiful. They were alive and the pictures looked so perfect! Most places ship the butterflies to you the night before and as long as you keep them as their directions say (a cool dark place), they should be fine. They hibernate until the temperature is warm enough to wake up. And the other thing about the release is they send you butterflies that belong in your area so it actually helps the butterfly population.

I like the idea of kazoos and clapping too though!
  • I like the sparkler idea.  I live on the beach and a friend had mini white bali flags for everyone and it was beautiful!

  • I was going to go with the ribbon wand idea until I put more thought into it.  They're cute but I can't imagine much of mine of my FI's family really wanting to wave around a little stick with ribbons attached to it.  We're going with the clapping if the guests so choose.
