Recommendations for a Beach location in the Gulf or Carolinas??

My fiance and I would like an intimate, casual beach ceremony either in the Gulf or North or South Carolina.  I've searched online and it's pretty overwhelming!  Wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience w/ a place they loved.

Thanks!

I live in Wilmington, NC which is on the coast. The beaches here are Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach, and the Fort Fisher State Park. There are some restrictions & special permits you have to get here for having beach weddings (for example, some beaches don't allow decor on the beach). There is also the aquarium at Fort Fisher which allows ceremonies & receptions to be held within the aquarium. I'm not sure of the price.

Just a few ideas to look at. :)

I'm getting married on Kure Beach, the permit was $35, we can have chairs, decor, etc. The other surrounding beaches do not allow decorations. Our reception is being held at the Halyburton Park Events Center in Wilmington, it holds 60 people seating indoors, 110 if you use the outdoor seating as well.

Google cape fear wedding, it should pull up a site that will be a great resource for you if you end up having your wedding in the area. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

I'm getting married on the Outer Banks using Beach Ball events. They do everything for you and prices depend on the package you get based on the number of guests you will have. You can google beach ball events for more info.

I am getting married at the Surf City center on Sept. 19th.  There is no permit to use the beach. Just no tents or open flames on the public areas.  We're having the ceremony on the beach in front of the center and the reception inside.  Highly recommend it.  It is a small place (holds about 125 max) and is right on the beach. Fairly new building.  And it is away from the more crowded places like wilmington.  We also looked at Southport.  That is beautiful!  We ended up with the Surf City center though b/c we wanted to be on the beach and it was cheaper.

I'm getting married in Frisco, NC (Outer Banks) at "The Love Boat" event home and there is both a gazebo area in the backyard for a "green" backdrop, and also a private beach on the soundside for an intimate wedding (no fees, decorate as you wish, etc).  Check them out through Hatteras Realty if that is a route you are interested in! :) Good Luck!
