cheap DFW venues--HELP!

I'm looking to get married June 7 and need a decently priced venue to hold about 250 guests. We're looking to have a night time wedding starting at 8 with a giant dessert bar instead of a meal to cut costs. Anybody know of any good ones?

    What do you mean by decently priced?  And what part of the metroplex?  Have you thought about maybe switching to a less popular month?  With so many guests and such a popular month, that's sort of a constraint, I think.  Just my opinion.

    What part of town are you looking at? I can't think of a venue that holds that many that allows outside catering so hopefully someone else will chime in.  Maybe Off the Grid?

    Do you mean the ceremony is going to start at 8:00?  Because a reception at 8:00 is still dinnertime (we served dinner at 8:30).  Also, if you are going to be serving alcohol, please consider serving something more than just sweets.  It's not a good mix.

    Yeah... 250 guests and "decently priced" might be pretty hard to come by, especially in June.

    I would suggest checking hotel ballrooms.  There's also a lot of places in Uptown/Downtown that can hold that many.  My reception was at Cityplace, but there's a thread a few down that talks about them coming under new management, so I have no idea what their costs are like right now (and it certainly wasn't cheap when I worked with them).

    Also, I agree with everything Stephie said.  I get trying to save costs, but if that's the case, you might have more luck having a morning wedding or a Sunday afternoon.

    Oh yeah, and you can really cut costs with a brunch.  That's what we are doing, and the food and beverage at the hotel we chose is basically half of what it would be at night.  Also, we are saving because we are only offering mimosas and bloody marys, so booze will probably be cheaper too.

    Word of caution with Off the Grid: The owner never answers his phone or emails, huge red flag. I ran the other direction after calling him twice and emailing him requesting pricing and he never responded.
