Yay! A good check!

I've mentioned before how FI's job doesn't allow him to safely wear a ring.  It would be too easy for his ring to get caught on a weight or these large chains they put on bench presses.  Or if he ever jammed his finger, he'd have to have his ring cut off.  I'm very adamant that wedding rings are something you wear (kinda a territorial thing but just that it is something you should be proud of, etc).  When I find out someone is married but doesn't wear their ring it just makes me uncomfortable like there's something else going on there.  So, FI also agrees rings should be worn but tends to misplace and/or lose things.  His ring was quite pricey so the on and off of it every day scared us both.  We got him a second cheaper ring for times when he travels to places he is worried about theft (unfortunately happens).  Also, we decided to get him a chain to wear around his neck that he can slip the ring on and off of.  He has a unique sense of style and his pricey ring is sooo unique we knew we had to find something great.  I ordered something offline last week.  We just got it in and he loves it!  We want to get a bit sturdier clasp for it (it is a really quality chain and has a good weight to it and then they just put this cheap clasp on it which I don't get).

So two rings and a chain later, FI's wedding jewlery is finally done.  I think he was jealous I got the big ring over a year ago and he wanted something fancy too haha (though I bought him a super nice engagement watch).  But, as long as he's excited about wearing a ring, I'll buy him whatever he wants lol.

Re: Yay! A good check!

  • Haha! That' s awesome! What a great check! The whole ring thing can be very frustrating. I have to admit, I fell for a guy once who was married...he didn't wear his ring and didn't tell me he was married. I was so pissed after I found out a few weeks later! He tried to tell me that he didn't wear his ring because when he first got married years ago, he was working construction and when he switched to education, he was just used to not wearing a ring and his wife didn't care. UMMMM I think she would care if she found out how he was using it to get chicks! MEN!
  • Many guys in our area don't wear rings, because they are fencing or welding or doing a lot of "hands on" work.  FI will have a ring, but it doesn't bother me that he will not always be wearing it.  I know he's mine and so does everyone else around.  Besides that, if some biatch wants to try to go after a guy, she'll do it whether or not there is a ring there, it's not going to stop her.  FI is commited to me and that's all that matters.

Glad you two were able to find something that works for you.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • That's an awesome check!  It's so great that you found something that will work for your FI.  I like the idea of the chain.  Is your FI a personal trainer or something?

My FI doesn't want to wear a ring, but I think it has less to do with the ladies, and more to do with him not wanting to wear jewelry.  His excuse is "You could get shocked while working on computers and screw up the computer or die."  (Ridiculous excuse.)  I asked if the other guys he works with wear rings, and he said yes, so I told him to stop complaining and that he's gonna have one.

He's been pretty unexcited about it until we decided that we're going to Vegas in August.  He's a huge fan of Pawn Stars, so I told him we can look at their pawn shop for a wedding ring for him, and he actually got excited about his ring!  God forbid we don't find anything there cause then he'll be disappointed and I'll have a month to find one for him.

He's a strength and conditioning coach!  Yea I'm not even really worried about women at his work because he works 99.9% of time with men and then he's putting that ring on when he leaves.  Getting him excited about the ring is key to getting him to wear it!  haha  That would be really cool if you could find it there.  If you don't luck out you can always check out other pawn shops (I'm sure Vegas has tons with people selling their stuff for gambling money haha)....wouldn't be as cool but it would be close.  I'd just go early in your trip so you can fit in a few other stores if you don't luck out.  Fingers crossed that works out for ya!
