Yes, and I am definitely glad that we did!  We also tried to make our rounds at the reception and a couple of people left shortly after dinner and we did not get to talk to them at the reception. We also only had 80 people, I wouldn't have thought that it would be hard to see everyone.  With a receiving line, we were sure that we were able to talk to everyone at least briefly.

We had a recieving line with just DH and I.  It worked out well, and went a lot faster than I thought it would.  Like pp said, it is hard to get around to every one at the reception.  We also had several guests only come for the ceremony.

We forgot.  We meant to, but right after the ceremony, the coordinators were like "Go over this way...the photographers will meet you there."  And we never thought about it until after!  Woops!

We figured no biggy since we'd make our rounds at the reception, but then we had a medical emergency with my oldest son, and he had to go to ER by ambulance, so we never even got to make our rounds there!

Now I'm really wishing we had done the recieving line.

I think we are going to with just us two.  I just hope the line moves fast!

Instead of a receiving line, DH and I came back up the aisle and released the rows.  We enjoyed doing it that way, and no one had to stand in line waiting to talk to us, they could just sit in their seat until we came to their row.

Luckily it went by pretty quickly, even though we had something like 175+ people.

We can't have a receiving line at the Cathedral which is fine. What I think we may do is have one as you walk into the reception before cocktail hour. We have been to a few weddings like this and it has seemed to work out well.

We have an almost 4 hour gap between ceremony and reception so there will be plenty of time for us to drive around, do pictures, stop at a bar and get to the reception in time for this.

I have no idea. We haven't thought that far ahead yet, but I bet FI will be happy (sarcasm lol) to have yet another thing to help me decide.

We are going to do this.  Our parents will stand on either side of the entrance at the back.  Our wedding is in November so we want people to stay inside and we don't want to cause congestion in the lobby.

We are not going to have a receiving line, there really is not a good place to do it at in the church and I am not a big fan of them.  We will definitely be making the rounds at the reception.

My FI and I are still debating on this. We're getting married outside at the end of August and we don't want our guests to have to stay outside any longer than they have to.  We're planning on over 200 people coming. I like the idea of us releasing people from the rows. I'm afraid that we're gonna miss someone at the reception, especially since there is family of his that I've never met and vice versa coming to celebrate with us, so we'll still be making our rounds at the reception.
