When is the latest I should pick out my wedding dress!

My wedding is in March 2013. When should I get it at the latest?

I would say at LEAST 6-9 months before your wedding. I waited until six months out, and ended up buying off the rack (the sample gown) because I was worried about not getting a dress ordered and made in time.

Your best bet is to call some local bridal stores who carry the designers you like, and ask them how long it usually takes for them to get dresses in. Then you'll know how far out to order.

I am getting married in April of 2013 and made an appointment to go try on dresses for the first time next month. When I called around they said I was good until early fall if I wanted to wait. They also said at the end of April beginning of May is when they start to get in the new styles.

A lot of places told me about 9 months in advance. I think as long as it is at least 6-7 months out you should be okay, anything less than that you might be cutting it too close.

I ordered my dress in June and received it in November. It typically takes about 6 months for a dress to come in and you should also give yourself about 2 months for fittings/alterations. So I think 8-9 months out at least.

Since you have a date picked out, you might as well think on the higher end of the timeline so you can order whatever you'd like. I ordered mine 10 months before, dresses can take 6 months to come in then you want to factor in about 2 months for your alterations.

i'm getting married January 2013 and have just started looking in the past week. All of the stores are saying that I have plenty of time, but I know based on the mags and blogs and stuff that the normal recommendation is 8-10 months out.

I went to look for the first time in April 2011 for my June 2012. It was more that I was excited but I wasn't ready to put a deposit down on anything. I went back at the end of July and ordered my dress (a different one than I was going to get the first time around). It just came in last week. I personally liked that I went early just to see what I liked then went back a few months later ready to buy because just as I expected I had second thoughts about the orginal dress.

I think whenever you want! To be honest, I ordered mine a little less than a year out- this is because I found "the one" and didn't want to chance it being discontinued. It didn't come in until November (ordered in april)- so it took 7 months to come in. It was also made in overseas (it's a casablanca) and they told us that due to weather conditions some had to be delayed, mine was one of them. I would do it whenever you want- and it also depends- are you going to Davids or AA? Because they tend to come in faster..
