Can I AW for a sec? I finally tried on my wedding dress!

Ok, I'm a little scared. No one, and I mean NO ONE has seen me in my dress. I have even been avoiding trying the dress on for my mom (who made it, for those of you who didn't know,) because I wanted to drop some weight. Well, I got some cajones tonight, and it fits! I still feel like I wanna lose some more weight, but anyway, here it is:

So, what makes me kind of nervous is the fact that I do not have my tummy tuckin' boob poppin corset on in these pictures! LOL! Soooo, hopefully the extra fabric doesn't make the dress not zip up! So, what do we think?

You look beautiful!  Does it feel comfortable?  Why not try it on with the corset thingy to see?  If it's at all tight in a spot or two, that doesn't mean you have to lose weight - it probably means the dress should be let out a bit to fit those parts!  Honestly, being comfortable in your own skin is what makes a beautiful bride.  I've seen pictures of friends of mine from high school who got married after a year of dieting and exercising to be 'thin' for their wedding day.  They ended up looking skinny, gaunt, and unhealthy.  I don't look at those pictures and go, "Wow, she looks so beautiful!"  I look at them and go, "Wow, she must have starved herself.  That's not how she normally looks at all.  Is that really so-and-so?"

Anyway, all that to say that your FI is marrying YOU, not a certain dress size, so make sure the dress is made to fit you and that you don't try to squeeze into the dress!!!

Sooo old hollywood gorgeous! Am I seeing things, or does the train have a dark purple underneath? Hard to see whats going on there but you look great in it!!!

Thank you thank youuuu everyone! I was so not sure if I could pull it off!

Irish-yes the inside of the train has dark purple in it! :)

FTL- It's really just for the boobage, I swear! HA HA! I will be wearing a birdcage veil that is not done yet! :) Also, a faux fur wrap, cause it IS in December, after all.

Cal- Yeah, it's comfortable, and I think you're totally right. I need to stop letting my mom get into my head. I was soooo comfortable in my skin before I had to get into a wedding dress. As much as I love my mom and her awesome talent, part of me totally regrets having her make me a dress, because she wants me to be SOOO skinny, that she has purposely sabotaged parts of the dresses, forcing me to lose weight. Am I glad I've lost almost 20 lbs? Sure I am, but I like curves. So does FI! ;) But, seriously, thanks for saying all that. Kicks me back into the right mentality about my body again. I need this from time to time! Thank you too, Hike!

Whhhhattt?! I'm not the only one who has a mother that more than slightly obsessed with her daughters weight?!  CAB Lets start a club and get Tshirts!!!!!!

I've recently had a lot of people asking me to bake for them, and my mom poked me in the belly and was like "Hope you're not eating all of this"   FDAFHSUDAOFUIASDFN!!! First of all.. NO ONE touches my stomach.. EVER.  Not even H. He knows better than to do that.  Second of all, Helloo!! if someone asked me to bake them a dozen cookies, I'm not going to give them 11.. Plus.. I very very rarely eat anything that I bake I might try it, but I like nibble a cookie to make sure it's not awful and then I give the rest to her or my dad.

CAB-You'll be stunning and kudos to you and your weightloss!!

CAB, I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it (I'm known for my sometimes brutal honesty, right?  Good or bad, I'm honest to a fault at times).  You need to feel comfortable!  It is so meaningful that your Mom made your dress, and it's stunning (I think Irish hit it right on the head - old Hollywood glamour - so chic!).  But if it is "sabotaged" in certain parts, I think it's perfectly fine to take it to another seamstress to have some final alterations done so it's comfortable.  Just don't tell Momma!  Or, if you're stubborn and direct like me, tell her that you love your body the way it is, your FI loves your body the way it is, and you want the dress to highlight YOU on YOUR wedding day and not feel like you have to squeeze in to fit into some ideal size that isn't you.  Healthy is awesome - skinny is unimportant.

Ha ha, I am direct, and have told her before that I was fine the way I am. I'm going to have to tell her that I tried the dress on without the sabbotaging clips on the inside (those clips will BARELY close on the freakin' mannequin!) and to take them out. If she doesn't, I will simply not clip them on the day of the wedding. You can't even tell. I've also talked to my sister this morning and told her what was going on, and she's going to back me up. We're going on attack! OPPERATION: I'm not a freakin Barbie doll, MOM (Sami, our new club name? LOL!)

Oh, and old hollywood glam is what I was going for! It totally does not go with the wedding theme, but I don't care! Ha ha!

    You look fantastic!
Can I join your club? I know that I'm not at my healthiest, but my Mom spent so much of my adolescence convincing me I needed to lost weight that I never realized when I actually needed to. Like, if I think I'm already fat when I'm wearing a size 6, I didn't really start to differentiate that from a size 14. We get along better now, but my Mom's always been naturally very small (like boyish, no hips, completely flat-chested), and my sis is 6' tall and a size 4-6, so I'm the short pale curvy one.
