New Job Offer (NWR)

Hi everyone!!! I finally heard back from the childcare center I applied at two weeks ago. I had an interview with them on the spot. They called me and I came in right after I got out of my current job to dicuss the position with them. They are going to offer me a full time guaranteed 40 hours a week. It will be only $1.00 less than I am making now in retail as an Assistant Manager. My hours would be 8:30- 5:30 Monday - Friday. I would have my weekends back!!! The only drawback is there are no insurance benefits offered. I will be the lead teacher in a classroom of 10 one year olds with one Assistant Teacher. I haven't worked with this age group in a while. Please help me decide with a what would you do. Thanks in advance.

    Does FI have medical benefits? If so you have the option of going on his benefits once you get married. If he does not, you have the option of getting an individual policy. I had looked into them when I started my current jobs just to see what else was out there. They were not as outrageiously priced as I had anticipated them to be.

    Really what it comes down too is that you need to do what will make you happy. Being stuck at a job that pays more but youre not happy with is not always the best solution. Go what what you think will make you happy and possibly improve your quality of life due to less stress and all of that.

    I am going to agree with Sassy on this one. It is better for you to be in a job that you enjoy, and is more closely related to what you want to do with your life, instead of one you dislike and only pays a dollar more.

    My FI is worried that the age group of 1 year olds is going to be to stressful for me. So not sure what to do.... I think it would be ok after a little bit of time for adjustment.

    Congratulations! Sounds like a great opportunity! Regarding your fiancé thinking it would be too stressful for you, I think any new job can be stressful at first until you get your rhythm. Plus, it's not like your current job is stress-free. I think in the end, you'd probably enjoy teaching more.

    I totally agree with this! I am nervous because I don't really have that much experience with 1 year olds. I don't know the major milestones they should be hitting and by what age level. I know I can research it on the internet. I just CAN'T ignore ALL the benefits!!! A SET schedule 8:30-5:30 Monday - Friday!!! Saturday and Sunday OFF!!!! Keeping Sabbath willl no longer be an issue. Visiting his family in LaBelle won't have to be cut short because I have to work @ 2 pm on a Saturday when it is STILL Sabbath!!! Thinking of our future family it just fits so much better!!!!

    That is great news!  Congrats!  I think that having standard hours (evenings and weekends off) will probably be fabulous for you!  Yes, little ones can be stressful but I don't think baby stress even compares to the craziness of retail!
