Leaving for honeymoon July 22!!!

We booked our honeymoon, and the ONLY flight we could get for a reasonable price out of the airport in our town leaves at 7pm our wedding day! Our airport, Rogue Valley International, is pretty spendy to fly out of compared to Portland or even Sacramento, so we have a short reception, and leave! I'm so excited!!! We are having just a laid-back trip, going down to Phoenix, Arizona. Any inexpensive ideas for the  Phoenix area? Just something fun. ♥♥♥

Re: Leaving for honeymoon July 22!!!

  • I grew up in Phoenix and I absolutely love it there. Honestly though, going in July is going to be rough if you aren't well acclimated to the heat. It's usually in the 115120's. There are plenty of urban and air conditioned things to do... But you're really going to miss out on some of the amazing outdoorsy stuff like hiking. The great news is, and I'm sure you already know, is that July is off peak tourist season and everything is much cheaper and less crowded. You can probably get some great deals on spa packages in Scottsdale if that is your thing. I would also check out the museums in downtown Phoenix. They're pretty cool, and I believe the art museum has free admission every Wednesday between certain hours. If you're an outdoorsy type and an early bird I would try a sunrise hike on Camelback mountain. The views are stunning, and of you start early you can beat the heat, just be careful if you do that and bring tons of sunblock and water! If you need more suggestions let me know! You're going to have an amazing time!

  • Oh, I also forgot.. If you guys are renting a car, and you would be crazy not to this time of year, try and go on a day trip to Sedona... It's only a couple of hours north and absolutely breathtaking.

  • Yeah, I second Sedona! It's absolutely the most beautiful place I've ever been to. Take a jeep tour! (I used Pink Jeeps). I would also recommend checking out the grand canyon south rim near Flagstaff. Something that everyone should see. Oh, and instead of taking the interstate up there, we drove through some mountain ranges. Sorry, I can't remember exactly what road(s) they were, but maybe that'll give you a head start.

  • Sedona, yes!!!  It's absolutley incredible there, I'm dying to go back.   Depending on how long you're staying, if you've never been to the grand canyon before, do try to make it out there for a night or two, it's really amazing and well worth the drive.
  • Thank you all!!! I haven't been down there since I was 14 (and I'm now 23) I lived there when I was a kid, but not being down there for years, I had no idea there would be so much to do! I have a lot of family that live down there, so we will have a couple of big family dinners as well. I will look into the Sedona idea! That seems sooo amazing!! We are renting a car from the airport yes, we made sure we had the money to get one. I want to go around Scottsdale for sure, I read something about a free trolley tour around, so we do want to do that as well.
