Still searching :-(

Does anyone have suggestions for local venues where the price per person is less than $70? We are trying to stay around Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, Baltimore area, or Northern Virginia.  Annapolis could also be a possibility.

The majority of guests will be from out of town so we were hoping to not have them travel 2 hours outside of the 3 airports in the area. The $100+ fee of many local places is more than we can afford since we are expecting about 150 ppl to attend.

I've looked into some of the historic properties. Since we would have to arrange for catering, tables, chairs, etc. it winds up being just as expensive as the hotels. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or any cost-cutting ideas you may have. Thanks!

If you're willing to go to Frederick Co., we're getting married at Morningside Inn.  We are doing a buffet dinner, cocktail hour and b/w open bar for right around $70pp.

In terms of cost-cutting, we were able to stay below $70pp by doing the buffet rather than plated, eliminating champagne toast since most people don't drink the champagne anyway, doing beer and wine only rather than full open bar, and negotiating the price for vendors' and children's meals.

Try Prince George Ballroom in Hyattsville you can bring your own caterer and alcohol.  We chose them because almost 80% of our guest are from out of towm since I'm form NY.  Then try Basikneads catering in Alexandria.  That's who we're going with and have been a dream thus far.  They really really worked with my budget for a 150 ppl and I'm getting what I want.

Rememberno matter who you decide to go with, you can take and add to any proposal.  No proposal is set in stone and be upfront and ask how you can cut cost.  Good luck and happy planning.

Thanks! All of those are great suggestions. I'm not sure how we overlooked the Prince George's ballroom. I thought we looked at each link on the county's page for possible locations.

Ideally we would like to have the ceremony outside with an indoor cocktail hour and reception. The location should also provide a reasonable option for an indoor ceremony in case of inclimate weather.

We did look at hotel ballrooms but the ones in our price range were pretty much meeting rooms and not ideal for what we have in mind for the ceremony.

Thank you for all of your suggestions!!

Then the PG Ballroom should do the trick.  We are havinh the ceremony outside then the reception in the ballroom.  The ballroom hold 250 so it big enough for the ceremeony should mother nature decide to have a hissy fit that day...lol  Good luck.

Although it's in DC, you should definitely try the Arbor Ballroom.  It's located in the Washington Times building off NY Avenue.  I've been to two weddings there in the past five years, one just this past October.  It's a beautiful venue, the staff is very friendly, the food is always good, and I know the price will fit your budget.
