Work and name change vent...now that I'm married..

I took my husband's last name and love my new last name. I never liked my maiden name, mispronunciations, etc.. and also for the simple fact, I had no attachment to it. I saw it as just my father's name(I wasn't raised by him, parents divorced when I was a baby). So it has been legally changed pretty much everywhere since I got back from my HM. Last place that it was changed was my job. It is changed in my email, on my payroll, on my nameplate, you name it. I dislike, nice word for it, my current job, but the light at the end of the tunnel is I am leaving here in 2 months!! Anyway, I sent out an email to my department notifying them of the upcoming name change and also to change my name on any material that has my old last name (so they wouldn't get confused with my new email address). Long story short, my name, telephone number, and contact info are on thousands of forms that get sent out and get sent back to us. Most of them are delivered to me. Besides the fact that that when my boss did this, I was never told(he has good communication skills as you can see), I just started getting random phone calls from people asking me questions I had no answer to bc I do not process these forms or know anything about these forms. Then came the phone calls, nonstop daily from people asking me all sorts of questions related to these documents. I used to spend half my day returning calls or emails directing them WHO to contact, and would get "oh but your name is on it"..yeah no clue why. Now for the past few months I let every call go into voicemail and don't return any of these messages anymore, I just got fed up. It has now been a month and I still get mail brought up by our clerk in my MAIDEN NAME, documents are still sent out IN MY MAIDEN NAME..and it just shows me once again the total lack of respect these people have for me(yes I'm the lowest on the totem pole here, beneath everyone, an assistant) but still. When the clerk delivers the mail, I cross out my old name on his list and put my new one before signing. Again, I just see their ignoring my request as downright rude, bc if it was say my boss or anyone else who is maybe in with their clique, it would be changed as it's the curtsies thing to do. So do I just sit back and say nothing? Would this annoy anyone else?

I understand your annoyance. At least you're leaving in a couple months, so you don't have to worry about it for long. I'm a teacher and I know there is no way my kids are going to grasp the name change mid-year. So, I figure it won't really take effect until the following August and I'm not worried about it. If you're really leaving soon, I wouldn't sweat it. It sounds like you have plenty to annoy you at work. I would just smile and remind them politely that your name has changed and keep correcting it on the forms you mentioned. Hopefully, they'll catch on eventually. :)
