Prices for Photographers/Videographers

Helllo!!

So, I started meeting with photographers/videographers. Almost everyone averages from $3500.00 to $4500.00. Is this normal? What is a "good" price for the two? Any suggestions?

That seems pretty high, but I don't know what you are getting. My photographer is $2200 for 8 hours, an engagement session, unlimited locations, a dvd of hi-res photos in color and B&W, and standard touch ups. My videographer is $950 for the entire day and he allows you to be as creative (or not creative) as you want to be. Additionally, if you want him to be creative he is capable of some really cool stuff and has great ideas. HTH!

I would say that that's pretty high as well. Check out photogs and videogs that own their own business, it's usually less expensive and I've had better luck with them being professional.

I think that's on the higher side, although not totally unusual for the area. I would look into more independent photographers if you have not yet.

My photographer was Tasha from redwallphotography.com and her wedding package comes to $2500. Still a lot of money, but not quite as much, and totally worth it

From what I've seen 3k for a good photographer is pretty average. Our package was $1300 for 8 hours photography when we booked, but her prices are now in the 3k range. I agree that if you want to save money you should stay away from studios and look for an independent photographer that gives you the rights to the digital files. Although you can find great prices through the companies such as George Street and Timothy Whaley, I have heard mixed reviews on the quality and customer service, depending on which photographer you get.

$3,500-$4,5000 for BOTH? I don't think that's too expensive. I am splurging on photography b/c I feel like it's the one tangible thing from the wedding. After spending so much time on the details, I want everything to be documented for our children and grandchildren to see 20-40 years from now.

I didn't price out any videographers, but for a photographer, I think that's pretty average, but I am not sure what your package includes.

I paid a lot for my photographer but he flew to LA for us. Dennis Lee Photography is around that price I think without the travel. He's such a sweet guy and great photojournalist type wedding pics.
