If you were a BM?

Would you like to get one of the monogram button down men's shirts? They would be to wear the day of while we get ready. It would have their initials on the pocket and then on the cuff of one sleeve it would have bridesmaid or MOH and then the other cuff would have the date. I really like these but I'm not sure anyone would like to receive this as a gift.

Re: If you were a BM?

  • I wouldn't want anything with a wedding date and bridesmaid on it as my gift. But if it were in addition to a gift that would be ok. Personally I don't like the button down shirts, Id prefer to wear a robe or a zip up hoodie to not mess up my hair. But thats just me :) Id wear it for the bride if she wanted me to for photo ops, etc
  • I think it's a really cute idea, actually!  but is that all you would get them?  If you do that, I think you should get them something else non-wedding related.  I got all of my girls a swarovski necklace to wear at the wedding (http://www.swarovski.com/Web_US/en/678189/product/Gillian_Y-Necklace.html?CatalogCategoryName=0108), but then I also got them each personalized cosmetic bags filled with little stuff that they can use whenever.

This. I'm putting my BMs name on the robe instead of their title b/c I want them to be able to use it after the wedding. As the pp said, I'm not crazy about the button down shirt, but I'd do it for the bride.

  • I agree with PPs- I wouldn't put BM or MOH on anything, unless it is something that is meant to be thrown away after the wedding day.   I personally would be more likely to wear a robe or a hoodie again over a button down, but only you know your girls and their style.

Also- is the main purpose of these for a cute photo op?  If so, I'd take a look at your timeline and see what time your photographer is arriving.  I was thinking about doing personalized hangers, mostly because I thought all the dresses hanging on them would make for a cute photo.  And then I worked on my timeline and realized all my girls will be dressed by the time my photographer arrives, so it would have been a waste of time and money!

  • If you're going to monogram something for getting ready, I would get a hoodie instead. I got some from Old Navy for like $8 each. They most likely won't wear it again after the wedding, so don't break the bank on it. I've seen lots of cute getting ready pictures with matching silk or chiffon robes. That's something they'll probably wear again.

  • I like button down shirts and would wear it. But, not with a monogram that said bridesmaid or with a date. I wouldn't mind if it had my initials, though. But, I like the idea of hoodies or even a cute robe. I just wouldn't do a date.
  • It would be in addition to other gifts to help answer some questions. I did think about just having there initials monogrammed on it I'm open to both ideas.
  • I agree w/ PP I would just do their names or initials so they'll be more likely to wear it again.
