Shoes...blue? pink? white?

I just bought my dress a week ago (yay!) and I have been starting to look at shoes. The bridal salon recommended that I get a platform shoe so that I can have the height but I won't be on an angle like I would be in just a heel.

I am 5'4" and my dress was ordered as a "short" size.

I bought a pair of dyeable platform heals that are abut 3 1/2 inches but they are really uncomfortable and I am sending them back.

I can't find any platform shoes (I don't want completely closed toe) that is under 3 1/2 inches so I'm thinking that I need to just get a "regular" pair of heels.

My new dilemma is that  I can't decide on whether or not I want to do white shoes, have a pair of shoes dyed pink ( to match the bridesmaids dresses) or if I should go completely different that what I was originally thinking and get these:

Re: Shoes...blue? pink? white?

  • I should also add that:

-my wedding colors are pink and green
-my fiance is not very tall and anything over 4 inches will make me about his height
    - I can't wear slingbacks, they never stay on my feet!
    - I was considering dyeing my petticoat but I think adding a pop of color with shoes will be a less messy way to do that.
    - I have time to think about this (dress won't be in for 4 months), and with Zappos, I can order the shoes and I'll have 365 days to return them.

  • The reason the platform was suggested is because it does make the incline less severe on your feet...if you wanted a 3-4 inch incline plus platform height.  (at 5'3" and my FI at 6'4" that's exactly what i want!)

in your case, just go with regular heels in the 2 1/2 inch range.  They'll still be elegant.

as for color, i'm in your boat.  i'm torn too.

  • I'm 5'2 and petite, the bridal salon suggested to get a platform shoe so I didn't have to get the bottom hemmed.  My shoes have almost a 5in heel and a platform in the front.  They are actually very comfy, as I wear heels everyday.  My colors are Hot & Light Pink.  I decided the get my shoes dyed a light rose pink, my mom and FMIL didn't like the idea, but I still did it anyway.  Different shoe colors are quite popular now.

I like the shoes on your link, but it doesn't look like it has a platform.

  • I would go with pink to match your BM's dresses :) That's what I am planning on doing and then finding another way to do my something blue!
  • I think I am going to go with a non-platform shoe since I don't want to be too tall or even the same height as my fiance. If I could find a platform shoe that was less than 3 inches I'd be happy but since i can't find that anywhere, I think I am gonig to have to do without the platform.

I am not worried about having to have the length of the dress altered, I'd rather have to do that than be too tall.

I was going to do a pair of blue undies as my something blue, but after thinking about it I'd rather do it as something people will be able to see and something I won't feel weird about telling people. I think I might order the blue shoes and see how they look and feel.

I'm still not 100% sure what the color of the bridesmaids dresses are going to be so I might order the blue shoes and if I decide later that I'd rathter have pink, I can just send the blue ones back!

Thanks for all your comments! :-)

  • I decided to order two different pairs of shoes so that I will have two different heel heights to choose from and also three different colors.

I ordered the blue shoes that I instantly fell in love with

and also a pair of white shoes that are dyeable so I can, later on down the road, have them dyed pink or keep them white...I'm loving the bling on these shoes too!

At this point I just want to keep all my options open,...with Zappos, I have so much time to return the shoes if I decide I don't like them, which is awesome!!
