Balloons??

I cannot say how much I love balloons. When I went to see my florist, which is a very large floral company, they showed us some very pretty pearlized ivory and light orange balloons. I really want to put balloons on the tables for the reception. Is this too kiddie or do you think it would look as pretty as I hope it will?

I worked at Party City while I was in college. We would occasionally get brides wanting balloons at weddings and none of us were ever fond of it. Personally, I would save the balloons for the bridal shower.

If you want them at the wedding, I would keep it small. A bouquet on the gift table, another by the guestbook. I think a bouquet on every table would be overwhelming.

Depending on how many bouquets you would need, they will be a total pain to transport. If you rent a helium tank and blow them up at the reception yourself, it will be one more thing to worry about the day of your wedding.

You can purchase a solution called hi-float to make them last longer. Without this solution, 12" balloons will only last about 8-10 hours. Even if you do use this solution, balloons become oxidized after just a few hours and will look cloudy. The shiny pearlized-ness of the balloons will not look as nice as what you originally saw after a few hours.

I've seen some photos online where balloons were used in weddings and it didn't look too bad but.... that's a rare case. I've been to weddings that use balloons as decorations and have seen a lot more attempts at it being elegant and nice but it just comes out tacky with a birthday feeling or prom. I'd say leave the love of balloons behind for one day.

I feel that balloons are for birthday parties, get well hospital visits, and maybe your bridal shower but not for weddings.

My FI said he didn't want the wedding to look like a highschool party, so I am not allowed to have balloons

They can be cute, but after I thought about it, they don't seem as elegant as I want my affair to be.

I say it depends on how formal you want balloons aren't that formal. We are having balloons just bc we have friends that are balloon artist and they WANT to make bride and groom balloon people that look like us. But if you like balloons go for it. We are doing a circus theme so it fits with us.

I didn't like them for prom and I don't like them for weddings either. Just not a fan.

You could look for those garden orbs or glass balls and use those instead for a baloon type effect without looking like strechy plastic.

so mostly yes balloons are horribly tacky but in the case of these three pictures, its how you use them!

Balloons have a more casual, juvenile look.

For a fun, casual wedding, they would be fine, if you keep them on the elegant side. For a more formal wedding, it would look out of place.

I do love some of those photos, and normally I shudder at ballons! I would stay stick with ALL WHITE though- IMO the Orange would be too much like homecoming or a prom... maybe use them for the RD?

I agree with all the pps. Balloons shouldn't be used in the reception unless they are done in an artistic way. I'm highly allergic to latex, and if I were a guest at your wedding, I wouldn't be able to stay

I think it depends on the individual. I think balloons are beautiful, especially the elegant pearlized ones. A lot of people don't think they are. It is your wedding and if you think they are beautiful, then by all means use them. My sister's wedding had balloons along with the flowers and floating above the dance floor. It was gorgeous.
