Portfolio Question

So I'm leaving tomorrow for a work conference. A guy that's going is doing is whole portfolio and I just thought I'd bring my resume. Well now I'm going to bring some samples. There is no way I can make mine look as nice as his but I figured I'd print off some ads that I did the concept for and mat them on black paper. My question is how many ads should I do and should I label when they ran or can I just put the company? Also I don't know who I'll be talking to about my resume so is it ok to skip a cover letter?

Depending on how long you've been at your company, bring 5-7 of your best ads. I would suggest also bringing some cover letters, just in case you do a quick drop at somebody's table (not sure how the conference is set up). Make sure you have paper clips too!

Another suggestion is to add another page to your resume with some smaller images of your ads, so they are easy to reference. Of course, you can always create your own website and post your portfolio on there - just include the link to your website on your resume.

I wouldn't do a cover letter. Bringing a portfolio is not a bad idea at all - can you have Kinkos print it and bind it for you into a little book? Definitely bring some resumes. Cover letters have to be targeted to the job/role, so it's impossible to pre-write them well.

I was planning on printing the ads at our office since we have a nice color printer in creative then I'm gonna get a portfolio from our bookstore. I saw the guy's portfolio and I feel like mine is pathetic compared to his. He's been working on his for over a month and it looks amazing

Well, I don't know but people do fancy shIit with iPads. Can you up load all your ads on a website to swipe through them when talking to people? Google iPad apa to see if they have a portfolio one
