is an inexpensive wedding possible?

I want to have all the frills of a wedding but without spending an enormous amount of money.  I'm trying to stay around $10,000.  Am I insane to think this is doable?  ANy thoughts. ideas, recommendations on how to keep the costs down?

Having a nice wedding for under 10K is definitely possible, but a lot of that depends on the number of guests.  Do you have an idea of how many people you are inviting?l

yes, it is possible. You may want to try to have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday because they are a lot cheaper than saturday weddings.  Also, DIY projects will save you money.

I agree with AJ - you'll spend less money if you have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday and during off-peak months.  The DIY projects can really help the budget stya in line, too.  HTH!

Our venue alone was under $10K, with everything added to it for 120 people, I think our wedding TOTAL was maybe $15K.  In my opinion (and all others) it was a very nice wedding!

It's definitely possible as long as you scout out the best deals.  There are some good ideas on the Budget board.

We're not spending much more than that for a 100 person wedding at peak wedding season.  We would have been at $10k if we had gone with a different venue option, a sit down dinner or buffet instead of heavy hors d'oeurves, and a couple bar related decisions.  Very reasonably priced vendor choices definitely helped - we are using Dean & Brown for catering and Stephanie Miller for photography.

It looks like we'll be having around 100 guests, as well.  I think I need to find an inexpensive and all inclusive venue.  Has anyone ever been to a wedding at the Mansion House at the Baltimore Zoo?  2900 bucks for the venue, chairs, tables are included.  It's better than the aquarium, which is where I was hoping it could be.  They want 4 grand just for the venue!

I think someone here was asking about the zoo recently, but I can't remember if they got an answer.  The first thing you should do is contact them about their caterers and get a price list for food/bar, because that is where the majority of your budget needs to go.

I've heard mixed things about the zoo.  I do know that they do not have air conditioning.  I'm not sure what time of year you are looking at, but it might be a decent consideration.

If you're in the area check out Rockfield Mansion and the Liliodendron in Bel Air, MD...not too far from the city.  Both properties are beautiful and not too expensive.  The best about Rockfield Mansion is that they allow you to bring in any caterer or DIY.  I'm getting married there is May and can't wait.
