WDYT of this favor idea?

Hi! After a few months of trying to come up with a unique favor idea that incorporates my Italian heritage, my fiance and I thought we could have mini bottles of olive oil and vinegar with tags on them that read "the perfect blend" (plus our names and wedding date). Also, my mother really wants us to include the traditional Italian "confetti" into the favors, so we were thinking we could put the bottles of olive oil and vinegar into a nice, color-coordinated box and attach the 5 Jordan almonds wrapped in tulle to the box somehow.

Do you think this is a creative/useful idea? Or would these favors just be left on the table or thrown away? I would really love to make my mother happy AND give my guests something useful and enjoyable! I appreciate any opinions! Thank you so much! Smile

I like it! My niece and nephew did nips of Tequila for her Mexican heritage and Jamesons Irish Whiskey for his Irish heritage. You could put the bottles in mini buckets filled with the almonds.

I would say either the jordan almonds OR the olive oil/vinegar bottles, but both would be a little bit weird to me.

I think that's wonderful. Olive oil/vinegar would definitely be a nice reflection of your heritage and who doesn't need a bit of oil and vinegar?  Also the almonds would be nice to uphold tradition, which sounds like something you feel is important. It also may be something that your more old-school guests would appreciate. Very cultured and tasteful (so to speak).

leave out the almonds... They don't go at all with the favor. The idea of olive oil and vinegar is great though! My twin got married on October  8th and we did little maple syrup favors in maple leaf shaped glass bottles. The guests were loving them bc its something they know they can use.  (and the local maple farm bottled them with local syrup) Oil and vinegar Is great! :-)

love the idea. i'm also italian, and we're doing a set of 6 wine charms (handmade by me!) in a little organza bag.  We'll also have the almonds next to the bag, but they'll be in this little holder: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5O_Owr8x3Vo/TCacu4Gl6QI/AAAAAAAADA8/ETPeuOkE65w/s400/circles-w_thirds_300.jpg

they also have them in a round shape which i think would go great with your OO/Vinegar favor: http://www.confettiflowers.com/acatalog/circles-w_folded_300.jpg

We are also doing the almonds for my Italian heritage - I think that alone is a nice gift, but I also feel like people go to your wedding to see YOU, not to get a gift...so I don't want to go broke on favors.

Thank you so much for all of your opinions....they are a huge help! :) I'm very relieved that both the olive oil & vinegar and the almonds wouldn't be left behind!

to kristi: I don't think that it has to be 5, but this number is supposed to represent health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity. I like your suggestion of trying to include them instead of just attaching them, though! I was trying to envision how they would look on the table, and I think it would look more "cohesive" if I included them in with the oil/vinegar.

to gymbugmj2k: I really love those holders! very elegant/lclassy!

I think we ordered the holders from here:  http://www.confettiflowers.com/acatalog/Rachetti-Branches.html

the flower style ones you have to buy each branch separately and form the flower. The 5 stem 'bouquet' ones come already assembled.  - both ultimately cost under $1 apiece.
  • I think it's great, were getting married in Spain and the venue has Olive trees which are locally harvested and pressed so were going to see if they can bottle some oil for our favors. Then the guests get to take home a little bit of the venue as well as our day!
