bridal store reviews please

I am going shopping this weekend for the first time.

Wondering what you ladies think of these bridal stores:
Alfred Angelo
Something Blue Bridal and Fromal Wear
Elaine's Bridal Boutique
Solutions Bridal
Aventura Brides
The Collection

Looking for pricing and personal experiences thank you so much! This really helps me when I am coming from out of state. :)

I'll give you my personal opinion on the ones I went to!

Alfred Angelo--they were ok, but not very attentive and i didn't love any gowns there. not expensive but not impressive.
Something Blue Bridal and Fromal Wear--really nice...the employees are very friendly but i didn't find any dresses i loved. expensive.
Elaine's Bridal Boutique--never heard of it!
Solutions Bridal--amazing. awesome staff, awesome gowns, all-around awesome experience. expensive, but i was able to stay within my 2k budget.
Aventura Brides--they are trying to spam this board with their vendor posts today, so i'm currently not a fan. if you read this, aventura, please let it rest. i'm tired of deleting!
The Collection--a big disappointment. it was kinda dirty and disorganized and the staff wasn't very helpful. the gowns, especially the bm ones, are just shoved everywhere.  i was shocked, considering the location! very expensive. not worth it, IMO.

My favorite 2 bridal gown shops were Solutions Bridal and Lily's Bridal. I would have purchased from Something Blue, as well, if I had found something I wanted there. I'm trying to remember the name of the one sales girl, but she is sweet and bubbly and engaged herself at the moment.

Thanks ladies in advance, let me know your experience!

I liked Alfred Angelo. We ordered bridesmaids dresses there and didn't have any problems.

I honestly would avoid Aventura Bridal.  Why?  Because after what happened with the Savannah Grace girls, I would be highly suspicious of a store that opened up less than a year ago and is not a chain and is run by one person.  Also, the owner there irked me a little bit.  I had my tuxes at the Sacino's there but that Sacino's closed and they were going to send my tux order to Aventura beause Aventura rents Sacino's tuxes.  But, the lady gave me an attitude about honoring the price we had already agreed upon and said that the lady from the Sacino's place hadn't told her that, blah blah. I thought she was rude so I immediately switched our tux order to a different store.  I wouldn't go there.

Solutions and The Collection offer very high end dresses for larger budgets.

My favorite store is Demetrios because I love all of their dresses and they had great customer service.

Thanks Theresa!  What did you like about the Demetrios dresses?

Also if you girls have other suggestions than not on the list please let me know!

I love the dresses at Demetrios.  they have lots of poofy princess dresses and that made me happy :)
  • edited December 2011
ooo Im not into poofy princess, not against it just not what I envision myself in. I am looking for more trumpet style.

My dress is Priscilla, and although I bought it in Philadelphia they are shipping it here to the Orlando store. The ladies at both stores have been unbelievably attentive, and you would never guess from the service I get in Orlando that I did not buy my dress there. This might benefit you because there is a store in Vienna (Not far outside DC), one of my Bridesmaids is having all her measurements done there for her dress.

I got my dress at the Collection and had a pretty good experience, but the only reason I got it there is because I found it elsewhere (Outside of Central FL) and it was the only local place that carried that designer.

The best service I had in Orlando was at Something Blue in Dr. Phillip's. I had already fallen in love with another dress so I didn't get anything there, but they were SO attentive.

The worst was at Savannah Grace (thank GOODNESS) and Minerva's. Minerva's was rushed and crowded and the dresses they brought me felt poorly made.

I had a good experience at Demetrios, and almost bought a dress there.  Great service, great selection I thought, and the dresses were mostly under $2,500.

My experience at Minerva's was okay, they just don't have a HUGE selection.

I ended up getting my dress at Minerva's - It can be frustrating in there since they don't make appointments, but they had a pretty decent selection and their prices were amazing!  I wasn't in love with any of the gowns I tried on at first because they weren't quite what I wanted, but once I described what I wanted to the sales associate, she said "I know exactly which dress you'll love!" and she dug around in the dresses and pulled out what ended up being my dress.  I love it :-)  And i couldn't BELIEVE the price.  They also have a huge selection of bridesmaids gowns, and they actually show prices on their website and they don't hide the designer's names or anything.  I have a half-dozen friends and aquaintances who have bought there.  I'm not sure what your budget is, but they seemed to have a lot of nice gowns for under $1,000.

I hope that helps!  Have so much fun shopping!

AA was super attentive when I was shopping for my dress, but not so great when it came to me picking it up or buying BM dresses. I also believe they are cheaper than Demetrios. David's Bridal at Millenia is fine, but don't go to the Altamonte one. They are worse than AA. Hope that helps!

I brought my BMs to Modern Bridal, since it was one of the few stores in the area that carried the line of BM dresses I liked (Mori Lee).  They were WAY overbooked that day, and did not help the ladies with the gown at all.

When we were ready to purchase, we had to wait and wait for the lady to come back and get our info, and when she was in the middle of typing everything in, she left to help someone else.  A nice guy took her place, but it looked like he had never used a computer before, and everything was taking forever.

Finally, we were so sick of waiting that we left.  About 1/2 hour later I received a nasty message from them, telling me that I NEED to order my dress there.  Um, no thanks!

I ended up ordering the dresses myself (all at once to ensure the color matched!) online.

I don't plan on going to them all this weekend trying to see who I should go to and not. Isn't Priscilla of Boston pretty expensive, and yes that is kinda close to where I am located.

If you had to list your top 5 to go to who would you list?

hmmm...i  had the same budget. i say DEFINITELY go to Solutions, Demetrios, and Lily's! Those were the best 3 for me for that budget. you should also try Something Blue just in case. I know they have some jim hjelm gowns that will be within your budget.

Im going to throw Butterfly Bridal out there again. I paid $850 (original full price. its like $400 now) for my gown and it blew all of the more expensive dresses out of the water. The runner up was from alfred angelo and cost over $500 more.

Again, they are getting rid of their bridal inventory and are only selling off the rack. but at 50-75% off I think its worth a look! They're in the Oviedo Mall.

I went to Lily's, Solutions, and Modern Bridal. I had a great experience at Solutions and Modern (I found my dress at Modern). If you go to Modern make sure you have LaVoria help you- she is by far the best lady there. I didn't like Lily's because they didn't have any dresses the style I was looking for, all of theirs had a lot of beading on it- I didn't even try anything on there.

    Good luck!

thanks I am super excited! Going home tonight laundry, pack and in a few hours I will be leaving for the airport for a very early am flight to orlando and start shopping!!!

I don't know if this is too late or not but DO NOT go to Alfred Angelo!!! Those ladies are ridiculously rude!! I'm a pretty shy person and I don't like a lot of attention but come on this is your wedding dress shopping day and they treat you like crap!! So not worth their dresses! If you want to be ignored for hours, lace up your own dress, be insulted and shuved around (oh yeah the lady shuved me!) then by all means. I wish I had the power to warn everyone in Orlando, they just ruined my day! Lol... ok rant over, good luck finding your dress :)
