Rain in Feb in Oahu?

Hi All,
It has been my dream ever since deciding we would get married in Hawaii to have both our ceremony and reception outdoors. Now my fiance and family are getting cold feet and are scared we are going to get rained on and are wanting to move the reception indoors.I know there is always that chance, but from what I researched Feb is not usually rainy season. The venues we are considering have a backup room, but if any of you got married in Oahu in Feb, could you please give me some advice on the weather and if you had you reception outdoors? We will definitely get a tent for our outdoor reception just in case...  Thanks!

Re: Rain in Feb in Oahu?

  • I live here. Jan/Feb/March is subject to a little bit more rain than usual. Nov-March is considered "rainy season". Then again it was like 80 degrees last week. But honestly, you never can tell. I went to 2 weddings in July and it rained both times.

I cannot STRESS the importance of a tent.  I've been to outdoor receptions and even if it doesn't rain, the sun will beat down on your poor guests. The cake will melt, The drinks have a pool of water around it on the table.

You could look into getting a clear tent if you're set on an "outdoor" reception. Hang some lanterns or some fabric sporadically .HTH
  • Hi, we're here on a planning trip on the north shore Oahu. It's been in the 70s nd yesterday cloudy with some short bursts of light rain sprinkles throughout the early afternoon. Nothing you'd have to move indoors for. Agree withPP, we were here in August and it was hotter and sunnier but we also drove through at least one pretty heavy rain shower in that trip, so I don't think you can completely predict.

  • Our wedding was in November which is considered rainy season, we did have a short downpour during the set-up time, so thankfully we did go with a tent as recommended by our WC otherwise everything would have been soaked.  The weather cleared for the rest of the day.

  • I agree - this is considered rainy season so going with a tent would be a wise choice.  We used a clear top tent and loved it - it really put the finishing touch on everything!
