Create your own wedding album?

I have found photographers that I like that either do not include an album in their package or have one that doesn't fit my taste.  Rather than paying $600-$1500 to add one to my package, I have been looking up pricing to make my own (under $200).  Has anyone out there done their own album or know someone who did?  If so, where did they go and were they pleased with the results?  Please let me know if advise against it as well!

PS. my fiance is a picture guy and loves to do that kinda of stuff so tedious work won't bother him.

    I made one for my husband's parents as a wedding gift.  I have pictures and a review in my bio.  It was high quality and beautiful --but it was $400 for a 34-page album.  I used Somerset Albums (www.somersetalbums.com). 

    Another company that is a little cheaper that I looked at was Nations Photo Lab.(http://www.nationsphotolab.com/). The thing I didn't like about them was that they didn't have a preview feature.

    For under $200, you're probably looking at more of a nice photo book rather than a flush mount album like you would get through your photographer.  There are lots of companies where you can make nice photo books, including Somerset.

    Great point!  My friend has a really nice album that is probably that flush mount you were talking about.  The pictures are all printed right on the paper and it kind of reminded me of a yearbook...I will have to get ym fiance to look into the album stuff as he knows more about it.  Thanks for teh advice and sites!!!!

    yes! i have a great idea!  pictures professionally made in to an album using a different source like an album design web site. 

    I used this AMAZING site http://artisticalbums.com/

    They created the album for me and did a beautiful professional  and artistic job. I got it done for an amazing price and i was very pleased with the results.

    I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone.

    Take a look at www.wedesignalbums.com.

    Just upload your prints, they design it, print it and bind it for you.  You have many choices for your cover.  They only offer the rigid pages that have a full page photograph mounted to it.

    You can get a 10x10 album complete for under $300.
