Wedding Invitations & Paper

Unique Christian Wording

My fiancé and I are Christians that want God to be at the center of our marriage...and our invitations. :P haha Seriously, though. Our faith is integral to both of our lives, and we want that reflected in our invitation wording. However, I'm having a really hard time finding any templates that aren't too typical or a little bit corny. We want our invitations to be meaningful, but also reflect our fun-loving natures. Does anyone have a suggestion? :)

Re: Unique Christian Wording

  • I think your best bet would be to put a short bible verse that you think sums up what you feel about your relationship or about marriage at the top of your invites. Then stick to traditional wording for the rest of it. Then God is what guests see first as they read your invites. One that comes to mind is "what God has joined together, man must not separate". Another is "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you". The first is from Mark 10 or matthew 19, the second is phillipians I believe but I can't remember the chapter and verse. Just some ideas.
  • My fiance and I are the same! I'm doing our invites and searched some websites for wording and then adjusted it to what we wanted it to say. Ours say...
Celebrating God's love for them and their love for each other
    (our names)
will give their lives to one another
    (date/time/location info)
    (our parents' names)
invite you to join with them in asking God's blessing upon this holy union.

Then I added 1 John 4:7 at the very bottom.

Maybe still a little formal for you, but it might spark an idea!
