Our Marriage Certificate finally came.

Expedited copy comes 3 days shy of our 2 month anniversary.

I don't even want to know what the "slow" copy would have taken. Yeesh.

That's great! I'll post up here when mine comes in. I chose not to do the expedited copy, so I wonder if it will take the full 4 months that the agent warned me about...

When was your wedding? It's very possible. When I called the vital records office on Oahu they said that the Maui office (where we got married) was up to 2 months behind and they needed to process it first and get it sent to Oahu where it could be another week or more to get processed and then sent out. It took Oahu almost a week to do what they needed to do before sending it out.

Congrats on finally receiving it.  I know you were getting frustrated!
Did they say they were always that far behind or just behind because of so many brides on 11/11/11?

    PS Bree
Your cute kitty inspired me.  I asked my FI for a kitty for Christmas.  He thought I was crazy because we have 2 dogs but I want a soft, cuddly, purring kitty!  Hopefully I get one.

They were behind from September and October weddings, I can't even imagine what it must be like coming after the 11/11/11 ones!

I hope you guys can get a snuggly kitty! We just love Sherlock :)

Wow, that took forever! I wonder if getting married on Oahu will make things any faster with mine? It's a good thing I won't be needing mine for insurance purposes right away either, 2 months for an expedited copy is crazy!

It should! I don't think you need to go through two offices then. I have a few friends from this board who got married late this summer and didn't have to wait as long. I guess it all depends on the season.

    Hi Brea,
To answer your question, we got married on 11/24 in Maui. Still no certificate...not expecitng it quite yet though!

I just called up my HR department because I wanted to get my husband on my insurance within th 31day window to change insurance outside of the normal yearly enrollment.  No marriage certificate needed! YAY! I am guessing that every employer is different. We will only need it if they decide to audit, but they took my word for it that we got married. Hoping they don't audit before my certificate comes in (if at all!).
