Breaking Out...help!

Ok ladies, I have never had the BEST skin, but I am seriously breaking out, especially on my chest.  I don't have the best face-washing before bed/waking up, etc.

What are your ladies' routines and what products do you swear by? I refuse to be apart of the zitty titty commitee on my wedding day, airbrush makeup or not!

TIA!

Re: Breaking Out...help!

  • First, I highly recommend that you use all the same brand of products.  Your breakouts could be a result of chemical interactions between brands.

Second, I use Mary Kay skin care products: cleanser, microdermabrasion (2 x/week), serum C (for wrinkles across forehead), day/night solution, moisturizer, and foundation.

I've never heard that and Im bff with my derm.

Op, The weather may have something to do with it. I have been using a wash my derm prescribed on my chest and back and its been working great but I have broken out a bit the past couple weeks.

Before I had to go on an rx she was having me wash w a salicylic acid body wash otc and moisturize w cetaphil. Make sure you exfoliate w a clean wash cloth a couple times a week. That helped but my zits were kind of stubborn so I had to go on an rx.
  • Cetaphil cleanser, Clinique clarifying lotion (in mild), Clinique moisturizers, vitamin c face polish from the Body Shop 2x per week, and I only use Clinique makeup. I have such sensitive skin that I only trust those products for myself. You could also try the Tea Tree body wash from the Body Shop. That should help clear up the acne on your chest. I've used that before and it worked great. I also think its very important to take your makeup off at night.

  • I LOVE the skyn iceland products. They're all natural, and they seriously had my skin clear in 2 days after switching. They're all natural, and they have a small kit for you to try out and see if it works for you before making a big commitment. They're stuff is aimed at stressed skin, and I know that's why my skin had been acting up.

  • I have been using Proactiv products for the last 4 years and have great luck with them.  Before, I purchased products at the store and they dried my skin out really bad and didn't cure my pimple problem.  I get a supply from Proactiv every 3 months, and earlier this summer purchased this tinted moisturizer that also has sunscreen, as well as some green tea moisturizer which I really love.

  • I also had terrible acne and my dermatologist prescribed some meds + cetaphil but as soon as the meds ran out, the cetaphil didn't do much...and I wasn't supposed to take the meds for life.

Proactiv worked to clear the acne but really dried out my skin...and I got tired of running out of moisturizer every 3 months.

So now I use Mary Kay and swear by it. Been using the 3-in-1 cleanser and timewise moisturizer morning and night. It's not really that expensive because the wash lathers really well and the moisturizer applies well...a whole set ($40) lasts a whole year. i don't even really use their anti-acne stuff.

    Good luck!

  • I've been using Avene Cleanance Soap Free Cleanser  (I started this about 6 months ago when I had oily, broken out skin).  I recently started using Clinique Dark Spot corrector for my post acne scars (I use this a moisturizer too) and then I use Nuetrogena water light sunscreen for the face.

I also had chest breakouts and I found they just went away on their own...I tried wearing low cut shirts at home so no fabric was touching my chest and I'd wipe any sweat off as soon as i could.
