4 weeks left, what should I do for a workout

I work out about four to six times a week. I am super busy, as everyone is. I usually have 30 to 60 minutes in the morning to fit in a workout. I have lots of Jillian's DVDs and a gym membership. Lately I have been running outside, about 3 miles and doing a full body circuit once a week. I want to lose 5 pounds if I can, but if not at least work on my shoulders, triceps, and biceps. I eat weak Monday to Friday but I splurge on weekends. Next weekend is my bachelorette, so that weekend is a wash. Should I do Jillian's shed and shred video for 4 weeks? Should I run intervals on the treadmill to shed fat ? Or lift more? I just want to make the most of the last four weeks!

It sounds like you've got a solid plan going for you right now! The only change I think you should make is running intervals on the treadmill. The time I spent 3 months doing that I was in the best shape I've ever been in.

  • Maybe you could lighten up the load (pun intended) and give yourself a break. Sounds like you already have a healthy workout routine and not too crazy of a diet. It's a wedding. It's supposed to be fun (or so I keep telling myself).

Barring that, what about resistance training at higher weight and lower reps? Like higher weight till you're struggling on the last two out of 8 reps times 3 sets. That should give you the shaping up you want in a faster manner. And, if you do it circuit style (like from one to the next to the next) that's the best bang for your buck.

  • Cut out sugars (do complex carbs) and sodium....and do running w/intervals :)
