Inviting Coworkers

I work at an assisted living facility in the dining room. Workers need to be there for the dinner shift at 4. My wedding will be about 45 mins away from work. I want to invite all my coworkers, but I know that everyone can't get off. How do I invite everyone, but still understand management won't let everyone off..? I'm not sure what a good solution is :/

Re: Inviting Coworkers

  • Just invite whoever you want to invite.  It's up to them if they can come or not.

  • I just feel like it will be awkward. Everyone will try to ask off and my boss will basically get to decide who can come and who can't. :/
  • Well, life sucks sometimes.

  • I would just invite everyone and not worry about the time off situation.  That's not something you can control -- but sometimes knowing they're invited helps!

We're inviting my FI's boss -- but he works for a restaurant and we're getting married on father's day weekend -- NO ONE is allowed to request off that weekend (getting married is sort of the exception to that rule...lol)  We knew that when we invited them, they weren't going to be able to come -- but wanted them to know we wish they could be there

  • I'm in a similar position. I'm a dispatcher, FI is a cop. We are inviting lots of coworkers, but bottom line-someone has to stay back & man the ship. It's out of your hands. Send out invitations & whoever can come will come. Whoever can't will understand.

  • Invite who you want to and let the boss deal with it.

  • This is a really tricky situation, but I think that I would just invite everyone.  I know it really sucks that some people aren't going to be able to get off work, but I think that there would be a lot of hurt feelings if you only invited some of them.  (Normally, I would say to only invite the people you see outside of work, but you had specifically said you wanted to invite them all.)

  • If you want to invite everybody, invite everybody! Of course everybody won't be able to get the day off, but you gotta think there will be a few people who won't mind working instead for financial reasons if nothing else.
