Venue Name Change

So, one of my cousins was looking up the website for my venue (a hotel) only to find the webpage removed... she emailed me to tell me, and after calling them, they inform me that they are "in transition" and are calling themselves another name for the time being but have no name... this sound extremely shady and I'm extremely worried... what do I do? I kind of want to call my coordinator and b*tch her out for not bothering to tell me... but I'm posing the question here first just to make sure I'm not completely overreacting... good thing my invites aren't printed yet...

  • Was this hotel part of a chain? Maybe its agreement with the company ended. It's not uncommon, but I can't blame you for being worried, especially since you weren't kept abreast of the changes.
  • I can't lie and say I wouldn't be worried.  I think I'd give them a few weeks to get their stuff straightened out and then start bugging them.

  • This is very weird.  I'll be interested to hear what happens.
  • It was part of a chain and I have no idea when they actually changed over... but I'm pretty impatient so I think I'll be calling tomorrow and demanding the manager!

  • what hotel is this?
  • This always happens when a hotel is being changed into another chain.  The reason is, they do not want to put their name on a hotel until it has the amenties/looks of a hotel of their caliber.  This is very common during a transition time.
  • Crowne Plaza in Somerset... I just called to speak with my coordinator... surprise, she is no longer there. They had me speak with 2 different people and all I got was a "sorry about that" and an explanation that they were planning to send out letters as soon as they got their new brand, which should be by the end of this month. I guess this isn't really a big deal and I get that hotels change their names from time to time... but I'm still irritated.

  • Gina,
I am using the Crowne Plaza in Somerset for my room block.  I had no idea they were changing names. Ugh!

Anyway, the woman that set up our room block promised us a bunch of stuff, then sent out the wrong contract.  When my FI and I passed by a week later to sort out the details of the contract, we were told this woman was fired.  Lovely, right?

I have a feeling I know who your coordiantor was.  Right now we are working with someone else, and she seems to be on top of her game.

Call and ask for Gladys or Vicki.  They've been very helpful with this whole mess.
