Anyone been to Napa Valley? Recommendations on hotels/BBs?

Hey everyone! We need a little guidance! We've never been to Napa Valley before and will be heading out there for our Honeymoon! We have no clue where to stay though! Thankfully Quincygirl has helped us for one of our nights! Does anyone else have any suggs?? THANK YOU! (we're looking cost-effective!)

I also just emailed another friend who went to Napa more recently for recommendations. Hopefully I'll get back to you with more details soon :)

One of my favorite parts of staying at the Wine Way Inn was that the owner Nick was always up for providing recommendations of what wineries to go to and places to eat.  He even called to set up an appointment or two for us to have private tastings at non-mainstream places.  Our favorite was the Failla winery where we got to sit in the vintage cottage and taste wines for a couple of hours...yum!  Can you tell I'm ready for another trip??

Fun!!!! That's so helpful! I think we will be staying there! I'll tell him you sent us! :) Probably do two nights there and then go to Rutherford for the Cakebread winery/vineyard! My Mom's favorite! Getting so excited but definitely need guidance! haha. Which room did you guys stay in at the WWI?

I haven't been there, but would love to go within the next year!  I've been browsing places on VRBO in the area.  You can find a lot of places that have kitchens where you can buy food to make your own meals if desired.  My parents have found several vacation stay spots through that website around the country!  A lot of them have reviews from people who have stayed there.

I haven't been to Napa Valley (yet!) but I will vouch for VRBO being awesome- we are using them for a MUCH cheaper rate for our honeymoon. highly recommend this option.

Our friends used VRBO to rent a place in Napa Valley and it was amazing (tried to find it on VRBO to share, but no luck).  I think it might be a bit expensive to rent just as a couple, our friends went with another couple to split the cost.  Honestly this is what we want to do for our honeymoon eventually.  We'd like to rent a big home out in Napa and have a few of our close friends join us out there for a few days...suppose we'd have to call it our group-moon...ok maybe that sounds dirty but you get the point ;)

GREAT advice! We've contacted a few places!!! Thank you!!! Wow. VRBO is an awesome option!

Haven't been to Napa, but we went to Sonoma last year. Are you absolutely set on going to Napa? I ask because Napa is notorious for being busy, having traffic jams, and being crowded, whereas Sonoma is a much more low key. One night at our Sonoma B&B, a couple returned after being in Napa for the day and said, "never again", and promptly asked the B&B owner for some good recommendations for wineries and activities in Sonoma.

If you go to either Napa or Sonoma, I'd really recommend scouring Yelp for recommendations for both lodging and vineyards. There were *tons* of reviews for both when we went to Sonoma, and some places offered discounts if you mentioned Yelp when you booked. There are hundreds of vineyards and they all charge tasting fees. We found the Yelp reviews were right on, and only went to places with 4.5 stars or more and were glad we went that route.

If you consider Sonoma (and I'd recommend it), if you're on a budget I'd highly recommend the Fairfield Inn in Sebastopol. It's much nicer than most Fairfield Inns, and Sebastopol is a super-cute town. For something more upscale, I'd consider the Bodega Bay Resort, which is just outside of Sonoma on the coast. There are some *breathtaking* beaches within 1 mile, and the resort itself is right on the water. The rooms have fireplaces, and there was an awesome hot tub that we went to at night. It was very romantic, and just a stones throw from some good vineyards and restaurants. They had a wine and cheese happy hour every evening, and it was just a great place. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
