Songs

What song are you walking down the aisle to?  And what song during the recessional?
Trying to get some ideas. :)   All I know is that I want Canon in D for the bridal party..

Appalachian Spring-Copland, fast forward to 2:24- that's when I walk down. My BMs and RB/FG will walk down before me to the same song. Weird, but it's what I wanted. =D

Our recessional is Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba by Handel

• Our processional is THIS, with me making my entrance at 2:55.  A little unconventional but we both love this song, especially this remix.  Our recessional is the main theme from Star Wars since FI is a huge Star Wars fan and the beginning sounds just like a typical fanfare.
• Norman, is it this version with lyrics? I love this song!!! Very unique and cool choice, either way!

Also love the Star Wars idea!

We had to be a little more "coventional" because we're getting married in a church and the pastor was kind of strict about the choices....but my main goal was choosing not typical "wedding" songs, so we accomplished that, except for the recessional. Ours is pretty common, but I didn't care as much about that.

We ARE doing the that acoustic remix version with lyrics. Our prelude music is going to be a variety of Vitamin Strings Quartet songs.
I LOVE the song you're using. I had never heard that full arrangement , very nice.

Wow, what a grand entrance that Copeland song will make. You ladies have it all planned down to the very second you enter. Yeah, I'm not that good. We're also getting married in a church, so we can only choose from songs in our songbook.

There is this one song that we have that I always knew would be my song. Still don't know if I'll do a different song to exit.
• I'm thinking of maybe walking down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole..   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I&feature=relmfu

We're having an outdoor backyard wedding.. and the song has meaning: My FH said he thinks of me every time he hears it because it was on my myspace (omg myspace!! haha) when we were first dating and he used to look at my pictures. lol..  He said it takes him back to the beginning when we first met.   Only thing is, the song is kind of long so I'm not sure what part of the song I should be walking to. (start from the beginning?).

Thoughts?

This is one of my all-time favorite songs!!  I'm dancing w/ my uncle (father/daughter dance) to this song by IZ...I've loved it ever since I lived in Hawaii (I was in the Navy) and just KNEW it had to be in my wedding...somewhere.  I wanted to walk down the aisle to it, but we have a violinist.

Sorry for my excitement - most people have NO clue who IZ was...he's amazing and so classic hawaii!  :)

Noo don't be sorry, I LOVE your excitement! :D       It's making me excited too!
• I am walking down to the same version of somewhere over the rainbow.  The bridal party will also walk down to it.

The recessional is All you Need is Love by the beatles.  We are cutting a small part of the intro to make it work.
In Response to Re:Songs : Tee hee. My grandma used to sing that song to me when I was little, and I found this arrangement in college. I knew from the day I heard it, it would be the song I walked down the aisle to, at that very moment. It just seemed so "bridal"-ish. My FMIL tried to fight me on it, saying it wasn't a "wedding" song, and I was like, "Exactly, that's what I wanted."  As for the exact moment, I think that is (at least for me) because we're using recorded music. When you have live, the performer can repeat a line/verse/chorus/whatever if the bride is running late or something happens, so not as big of a deal, but for us, that CD is the timer for everything! It would ruin everything to rewind the CD! haha I have all of the BMs timed out as well.  What song are you using? You said you have one but didn't name it?
Posted by em01092
It's called "Now We Become One." I didn't name it because no one will know it. In our faith, we have our own songbook with songs that aren't really found else where. It will also be played off of a CD. It's about 5 minutes long, so that should be more than enough time for us to all walk in. I have a small BP. There's no climax in the song like yours, so I guess that's why I don't feel the need to time it.<div>
</div><div>I do want to time the song we're using for our reception entrance because there is a certain part that is my favorite. We're doing 'Levels' by Avicci. Love it! </div>

We're getting married in a floral conservatory. My FI is walking down the aisle to "Crazy Train" by Ozzy. He asked for very little in the wedding planning except that song...and since I happen to like it too, it was pretty easy to say "yes.

Then the tone will completely change...and my niece will be singing Keith Urban's "Making Memories of Us" and I'll be walked down the aisle by my son to that. It's a little different - like us!

OOPS - Recessional - "At Last" by Etta James.

<div>LOVE this song! I wanted to change ours to this after Amanda said she was using it, but we'd just gotten our music down with the pastor, and I was afraid that he'd get mad at me for wanting to change something!!! I managed to get my song for the processional, which was all I really cared about, so I let it go.</div>

• Seating of the Family "Family" by Alathea
Bridal Party "Always" by Alathea
Bride "Horizons" by Genesis (performed by Alathea)
Recessional "500 Miles" Steven Curtis Chapman Version (performed by Alathea)

Alathea is a band that I'm really close with.  Thye are based out of TN and are AWESOME!  I couldn't imagine anyone else performing at the ceremony.

It's so awesome. Although yesterday I changed my mind & wanted 'Feel So Close' by Calvin Harris. Unfortunately, FI doesn't think it's 'happy enough,' whatever that means. So we compromised & that will be the song for our 5min video highlight. Yey!
• Seating of the Family "Romanesca" by Cheryl Ann Fulton
Bridal Party "Downstream" by Shira Kammen
Bride Processional "Forlane" by Ravel (from Le Tombeau du Couperin)
