Wedding dress help!!

I live in the Philadelphia area and have recently started shopping for my wedding gown. I've only been to David's Bridal so far and I really wasn't impressed with their selection. All the gowns look the same. I'm on a budget so I really can't spend too much on a dress (I'd like to keep it under $1000). Does anyone know of any shops I can check out that carries a ton of different styles for cheap?

Re: Wedding dress help!!

  • Try Morilee.com, My wedding dress is from that designer, it´s a gorgeous dress.
Mine was $1200, but because I live in Mx and it traveled from NY-FLO-Mx, so I think that made it more pricey, I´ve seen in the web that it originally costs $600.

They have great quality and design, are very comfy and have a wonderful selection.

    Give it a try!

  • Google is your friend.  I would imagine there are TONS of wedding dress shops in Philly, and most should have something in your budget.

Keep in mind that along with your dress, you will need accessories (shoes, veil if you want one, underwear, etc) and alterations.  The cost of these varies widely (though you can find good deals on accessories on the internet), so you will want to consider this when you look at how much dresses cost.

  • Hey! I live in south Jersey.  If you try Lilly's bridal in Sewell, NJ and just let them know your budget when you call for an appointment, I think you will be pleased.  They are very helpful and they take their time with you and make you feel beautiful!

There are a ton of dresses for under $1000! Just keep alterations, veil, shoes, head piece, etc in mind too - but this is SO doable. I bought my dress from a bridal botique. I gave them my budget and they only pulled out dresses in my price range. I found so many I loved it was hard to choose!

I think you can find something under $1,000.

If you can wear the sample sizes, you can buy off the rack for half the original price, not a bad deal at all if the gown is in good shape and maybe just needs a dry cleaning.  What type of wedding are you having?

If you're looking for something kind of simple and less formal, Maggie Sottero and some other designers have "destination" lines, and those dresses are on the more budget-friendly end of the their price range.

If you browse wedding dresses here on TK, I think they show the price range they fall into so you can find designers in your price range and that will steer you in the right direction so you can find shops in your area that carry those designers.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

  • Hey - I shopped in the Philly area and my dress was under $1000.  It was a Casablanca.

    I went to...

http://www.countrybrideandgent.com/ <-- bought my dress here

    http://www.baranettesbridal.com/ <--- nice people
  • Alfred Angelo has tons of dresses for under $1000.  They also have sales quite often (I got my $1000 gown for $700).  Their service (at least at my shop) is way better than David's.   Their slips and other accessories are better as well (although I don't like their shoe selection).

  • Just throwing it out there - there's an Alfred Angelo shop on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, NJ.
  • My dress was a Casablanca and it was under $1000.  There are plenty of designer dresses under 1K you just have to look.  When calling around to bridal salons let them know your budget before visiting that way you know they have a selection for you to look through.  I made this mistake once and the salon was only able to show me sample dresses that were still a little over 1K.
