Chair Sashes with out the Chair Cover

Has anyone ever done/seen banquet chairs with just the sash, and no chair cover? This is obviously something that isn't "needed," but I do want something on my chairs. The chairs are a green color and do not match with our color scheme, but I am thinking the sash would cover the top of the chair pretty well. Am I wrong, and should just get chair covers, or do you think that it would look alright? If anyone has pictures, post them! :)

Re: Chair Sashes with out the Chair Cover

  • We are only having chair sashes on on the reserved chairs/tables. But we are having a buffet style dinner, we are going to be having a sweet heart table; then having the bridesmaid/guests, groomsmen/guest a reserved table kinda to the side of us.

I think it depends on the chairs, I have no clue what they look like. So im not much help. but it can get pretty pricey, so just think about how much you really want to spend on chairs.

    Good Luck :)

  • Yeah, we used chair sashes without chair covers.  Personally, I hate chair covers.  They shift and look crooked and they're a pain in the ass, plus, I think they're ugly as hell - but that's just me.

Our decorator uses those white outdoor chairs and ties sashes up the middle of them.  You can kinda see it on the chair I'm sitting on in this pic.

This is a picture of the sample tablescape she sent me when we were working out what I wanted our tables to look like - you can see the sashes better in this pic.

My sister used chair sashes at her wedding too, this is what they looked like at her reception (same decorator).

I've seen it done on nice chairs, and it looks really good.  I haven't seen it on folding chairs, but as long as they're nice folding chairs, that would probably look good, too!

  • This is pretty much what the chairs look like. My wedding colors are Plum, Pink, and Gray. Do you think just a gray or black sash would look fine on these, or just draw more attention to the chairs? Thanks for all of your opinions!

  • I think if you did the grey it wouldn't be too bad. Just make sure that you do a thick enough sash. Have you thought about using just a back of chair cover? They are cheap plus don't get all fussy.

If you used a small amount of green in your decoration like making sure there is green in your flowers or centerpieces it would work better.
  • Thanks for your input, I will either do full chair covers, or just skip it!

  • I personally think that chair covers with sashes look really classy at a wedding and sets the event apart from "just another dinner". Unless you are doing black satin sashes with your chairs (the one you posted the pic of), I would definitely spend a little extra and go for the covers as well. I don't think any other colour would co-ordinate well with the brownish/green banquet chair.

Another option is to have chair covers with sashes on every other chair; makes things look less busy. I am not a big fan of the chair wraps - I think they look messy. A nice fitted cover with clean lines looks very sophisticated IMO. Watch the satin covers though as they can be a bit slidey!
  • Check this site out...I found that buying the linens and covers through this site is actually cheaper than renting...
