Keratin Treatment

Has anyone done it?  I'm scheduled for Wednesday & my wedding is in March.  if you have done it, what were your thoughts?  My hair is somewhat wavy when left on it's own but totally frizzy in humidity.

Re: Keratin Treatment

  • It really works to smooth out your hair and tame frizz.  The day I washed it, it rained out and my hair looked the sleekest it has ever looked in my LIFE.  Nothing affected it!  My treatment lasted about 4-5 months. I liked it more and more as time went on, because I got a lot of volume back as the treatment washed out.

  • What brand are they using? Brazilian blowout is a brand in itself and it is the worst thing you could possible be around so I highly suggest not going to someone that uses that horrible brand. Trust me...not worth puting your body through something like that. Keratin treatments are amazing but I think the brand is an important thing to consider. Most fade within 2-3months (depending on what shampoo you use) and some fade even quicker. I would suggest not getting it done until like a month before your wedding. Marcia Teixeira gives great results but isn't quite as harsh. All chemicals can be bad for you but Brazilian blowout brand is a way stronger percentage. I prefer Pravana Perfection smoothout treatments. There arent that same harsh chemicals in this brand. While it may not give you as good of results as the harsh brands at least I feel better about being around it. It doesnt last nearly as long but it is cheaper and better for you.
  • The Original Brazilian Blowout is not bad despite what has been said in the past. The big controversy had to do with the Formaldehyde levels in the ALL keratin products. I've tried several brands as a stylist, and the Brazilian Blowout has no fumes whatsoever. It's when an untrained stylist over uses the product is where you're going to run into problems with any of those treatments. Ever been to a nail salon? Those fumes are waay worse. The BBO will last about 3 months and fades out. Keratin Complex is a similiar treatment, that seems to last a little longer. If you are going for a straighter look then do that one, it's from Peter Coopola. Both treatments will run about the same, anywhere from $150-$300 is typical. Hairdressers aren't chemists, so do the research for yourself :) And if anything, the exposure to the stylist is what the fuss is all about...
