Bridal shower almost a lame disaster!

So,I found out today that my bridal shower day, scheduled for 4/10, was going to be lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and movie...WTF!!! So, I had to step in a say something. While I appreciate my cousin's efforts to throw me a successful party, it was obvious that she needed some help. So,with her approval I have secured a Slumber Party for later that night and a nice night spot to go to later. I love and appreciate her so much...but DAMN! I'm trying to book a private strip tease class and I hope I can get one on short notice. Pray for me...I have a few "friends" who decided that they weren't coming based on what was planned...so you know I'm about to let them go!

    Good for you for stepping up and taking control.  Your poor cousin was doing the best she could with little help.  I continue to be amazed by the "friends" who pick and choose when they want to support you.  It's not about the activity.  It's about them being there to celebrate you!

    Whatever you end up doing, it will be great.

    Wait, bachelorette party or shower? You mean like a bridal shower with gifts and with your mama and his mama and all? lol!

    I think you meant bachlerorette party and I agree that you had to step in on that one. But lame or not, your friends still should be there. I might have had to kick them to the curb as well.

    Maybe I'm missing something here, but a bridal shower is bit more Cheesecake Factory-ish, and less skrip class-ish, no?

    At least your cousin did try to do "something" to make a shower possible. It's looks ungrateful to me, for you to step in and fix it. JMHO...

    yeah, maybe I'm mising something too, b/c the cheesecake factory would be very nice for the shower..a least I would have def attended..lol Sooo, maybe you are speaking on the bach party perhaps?  Going to a movie is kind of too laid back, but hey..she tried. LOL I hope you changed the plans in a nice way. Undecided

    You know what? Even if it is for a bachelorette party, there is no rule as to how one should be run...why not enjoy it, then do you oand have your own party on another date? Damn, where have we gone wrong as a society when a mere get together given by someone else isn't good enough? Sheesh!

    Yesterday morning, an acquaintance of FI and mine was shot and killed, coming home from his engagement party.

    Queen, I understand where you are coming from.  I'm sure there will be things about my bridal shower and bachlorette party that I would do differently, but there will be no need for me to harp on it because these women took time to plan something for me and whatever they plan will be "good enough".  The other side of the coin could be that nobody plans anything for you, just somethign to think about.  Frankly, I like the Cheesecake Factory idea...it would be more my style for the shower event.

    OK, rewind please....

    It's a shower during the day and a bachelorette party that night.

    @Queenz- I appreciate the effort (please re-read my post). However, one point I didn't make was the fact that my friends all contributed ideas that were all rejected. I have the right to want more and will not apologize for it. I never do anything for anyone to have something done in return...so I'm saying...plan something fun. I go all out for them on all occassions, so go all out for me...just this once. I have flown in for bridal showers, baby showers, weddings and hosted most of them. I have spent so much money on dresses that I can never wear again and etc...because I love them all so much that I wanted to make their day special. Collectively...do it for me. Make me feel just as important. I have friends traveling from different states and I want it to be FUN!

    The Cheesecake factory is great...not complaining about that. The point I was making is the fact that people are flying in from out of state and ALL that was planned was going to the restuarant for brunch. I WANT THEM TO HAVE FUN and I want us to have a memorable night. When I made the suggestion to do more, I was very, very nice about it...especially since 2 of my friends stated the same ideas had been rejected coming from them. She asked me what I wanted, I told her and it still wasn't planned.

    Everyone has an opinion and I can respect that...so respect the way I feel about this...that's all I'm saying.

    @sdstephens, I'm glad you clarified that 'cause I was like, what maybe I'm confused.LOL  Yeah the shower during the day and bachlorette party sounds like a good idea.  I love the strip tease class idea...can I go? LOL!  But you know, you have some awesome friends.  I'm not sure that my BM will throw me a shower and I'm basically planning my bachlorette party.  :( So while I understand your point, and see absolutely nothing wrong with you giving input...after all it's your party, again, I think that it's awesome that your friends are even thoughtful enough to plan something for you regardless of what it is.  Have a blast and tell us how it went!

    I like the Cheesecake Factory would be a nice idea for a Bridal Shower!  Yes Bridal Showers are fun but I thought it was relaxed fun, since there will be people there ( grandparents, parents and aunts)

    No parents,aunts or grandparents will be in attendance...only friends and family in their 20s and 30s. My grandparents all passed away, all of my aunts are in Chicago and my mom will be out of town attending a funeral.
