To obtain my OCN (nursing certification in Oncology) and work with cancer patients again. Cures are just out of our reach, but with proper trials and education and the Holy Spirit, its attainable
9. How did you and your fiance meet?
On the school bus in 1996, I was a freshman and he was a junior in high school, I thought he was sooo cute, he had his timbs and camo pants on (he was so NY with it!) Him and his friends , they way they dressed put you in the mind of Wu Tang back in the 90's! I was soo green back then! LOL! (We have been friends ever since)
10. When did you get engaged and how did he do it?? New years eve, 2011, I was sitting on the bed watching Hillbilly Handfishing (google it) and he was acting weird, and wouldnt get up off his knees (he was talking to me with his knees on the floor) He says " The first year, you were my friend, the second, you were my lady, and the third, I want you to say you will be my wife!" He pulls out this HUGE ring and I literally jumped from one side of the bed, like he pulled out a 16 eyed spider! I just started crying, it was beautiful!
11. When is the Wedding Day?

23. Any advice you can give?
Dont settle for what you want, not just your wedding, but in life. I spent 4 years in the Air force and didnt know that i wanted to be a nurse until my last year in. I went back to school and hustled that last year because i had 100% tuition assistance. i declined the GI bill which was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I had a newborn baby and duty during the day. I went to work from 7:30 a to 4:30 p AND nursing classes from 6 to 10p monday through friday! NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
24. Anything you wish you could change about your wedding?
That i could do it sooner that 11/16/13

My mother, GOD bless her is my inspiration. Even though she gives me a hard time. SHE is the reason i am who i am. My mother moved us from crack infested East Oakland California in 1991 to slow East Texas. We got on an amtrak train with 40.00. and 2 old steamer trunks. I watched her struggle for 3 years so she could put herself thru nursing school. My mother walked 2 miles to work and back for 2 years in the cold and the heat because she couldnt afford to a car when we first got here. she spent her last 35.00 one summer so she could by me a bike so that i didnt have to walk along side her (i went to work with her most days and then on to school) Yes, we were broke as all hell, but GOD made so we didnt have to do that anymore. Long story short (cause im in tears now) I thank God for her because had we stayed in oaklang only HE knows where we would be! Love ya'll
I love the story about your mother. I can really identify with your story. I had my first daughter at 19 and the other two in grad school. I was holding down 2 jobs, motherhood, school, babies and a husband at the time. NOTHING is impossible when God has your back!
Good luck with all your wedding planing and enjoy the process!
P.S. I'll tell pop pop you said hi and save you a dance
Anywhoo, Awww You and FI were high school sweet hearts! That is beautiful. And I also love mafia movies. Maybe because I was a tomboy and my older brother loved gangster movies and kung fu.
You are truly blessed to have a mother like yours. I'm so happy for you and wish you all the best in your marriage and career.
*celievoice*: Miiiiyah!!!
I have cried, cheered and fought, tooth , nail, WIG and claw
and
Hillbilly Handfishing
Dead. Rescusitated. Dead again. *Paging cardiology to the 16th floor with a crash cart, cardiology to 16, STAT!*
a. against my better judgment I did, in fact, google the above. henceforth and with regard to same, you're on punishment!

Hey Samiyah! The story about your mom is amazing. She is a strong woman and so are you!
So it seems you knew FI way back when but there was a disconnect? Or were you still friends all these years but didn't become romantically involved until a few years ago? What made you take it there?
Shout out to your momma. Very touching. Oakland is rough so she made the right decision. Your wedding color choice is going to be beautiful. Hurry 11/2013 so I can see pictures...lol
